For every Tarzan there must be a kick ass Jane. Introduced in Shanna, The She-Devil #1 (1972) by Carole Seuling, Steve Gerber and George Tuska, Shanna O’Hara is the daughter of a diamond miner in Africa who accidentally shot his wife. This lead Shanna to begin a campaign against guns. She would grow up to be veterinarian but when a leopard she was raising was killed she took it’s cubs to Africa to raise them, wearing the leopards pelt and becoming Shanna The She-Devil.

She was later kidnapped and taken to the Savage Land, where she would meet her husband, Ka-Zar and give birth to their child. The couple would work together to protect the Savage Land. She would later gain super-powers but would lose them soon after. Like Ka-Zar, Shanna would team up with many heroes and villains over the years. When the Cotati invaded Earth, she was chosen as the new Celestial Madonna and gained new powers. When the tournament to choose the next host of the Phoenix Force as underway, she was chosen as one of the candidates.

Because of her outfit, Shanna has a tough time getting a figure. Her only ML was part of the 2008 SDCC Savage Land box set with Zabu and Ka-Zar.

Background:
- Like her husband, Shanna is usually seen wearing nothing but a bikini made with animal hides. This is actually based on Frank Cho’s artwork for an alternate universe version but it was later brought into the prime universe.
Why do you need it for your collection?
- If you want this version, you will need it for most ally collections as well as part of a Savage Land display with Ka-Zar, Zabu and Sauron. However, I would wait for a remake.
Does it need a remake?
- Yes, while her design is risky to make nowadays, the figure she has is extremely out of date and underarticulated.
