She is Ireland’s answer to Captain America. Introduced in Marvel Super Hero Contest of Champions #1 (1982) by Mark GruenwaldBill MantloSteven Grant and John Romita, Jr., Molly Fitzgerald’s father was an Irish militant nationalist who prayed to the heavens to grant Molly’s brother powers to strike down his enemies. It wasn’t until she was in college that Molly realised that she was given luck-based powers. She used these powers to become Ireland’s patron hero, Shamrock. Her first appearance was when she was captured by the Grandmaster and forced to compete in the Contest of Champion, where she was reluctantly paired with Captain Britain and her powers allowed her to defeat Captain America.

She would eventually retire to become a schoolteacher but when her brother was killed by the IRA, her father drugged and kidnapped her to bring her to Northern Ireland. He gave her to Arnim Zola so the villain could experiment on her to replicate her powers. However, his experiment increased her powers and allowed her to escape Zola. Her father pointed a gun at her, but it exploded in his hands, killing him. Molly would return to being Shamrock at some point after that.

She was part of the Pan-European Conference on Super-Human Affairs as Ireland representee where they were attacked by Nazi villain Brain Drain, who brainwash the gather superheroes to killed each of their country’s leaders. With the help of Alpha Flight, they were able to prevent this since her powers made her immune to the villain’s powers. Her powers eventually ran out and she slipped and broke her leg. She would later meet Captain Britain and Meggan and agreed to do Meggan hair for her wedding. Afterwards she would become the most sought-after hairdresser, with the likes of Wasp, Wolfsbane and more using her services. She would later move to New York and open a salon. She gained weight and couldn’t put on her costume anymore. She would later purchase a pub called the Luck of the Irish, which became a frequent place for super-heroes.

Possible Figures

  • Which has the best chance of being made? – There is only one version of this character that has a chance of being made and that’s the classic version. The Vs Zola is just too plain and the less said about the quite insulting Girls version the better.
  • How can it be made? – This one is extremely easy to make. Just use the Shriek body with a new head. As for where she can be placed, I think she could easily be slotted into a Captain America or Avengers wave as well as the Fan Channel mixed themed waves.
