He is Canada’s supreme magician. Introduced in X-Men #120 (1979) by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, Michael Twoyoungmen comes from a long line of Shamans. However, he rejected this role and instead studied medical, becoming a surgeon. However, after the death of his wife and the rejection of his daughter (who would become Talisman), he became a recluse and began studying magic under his grandfather’s spirit. He was approached by a goddess, who he helped give birth to Narya, later Snowbird. He would raise the girl and was soon approached by James and Heather Hudson, who asked him to join the Alpha Flight program. He agreed to join to keep an eye on Narya, taking the codename Shaman.

After the death of Sasquatch, he place his spirit in the Box suit. He would later be reunited with his daughter, who would join Alpha Flight. However, they would break up after she was believed killed. This caused him to leave the Flight and begin training again. He would later begin using his daughter’s talisman, becoming distance from the rest of the team but he would soon return the object to his daughter. He would mentor the Gamma Flight team before Department H dismantle the Flight before. He would be the person to begin reuniting the Flight gathering the team again. After taking a protege in the form of Earthmover, he was later killed by the Collective. He would return during the Chaos War. He was one of many magic user to aid Strange in his battle with the Empirikul, that saw much of the Earth’s magic being destroyed. Recently, he has taken a teaching position that Dr. Strange’s school of magic.

Out of all the prime members of the Alpha Flight program, Shaman was usually the one of last person people asked for. However, he would eventually get a figure as part of an Amazon exclusive box set.
