The only one to survive. Introduced in Avengers: The Initiative #3 (2007) by Dan Slott and Stefano Caselli, Michael is one of three clones of MVP, an initiative recruit and descendant of Abraham Erskine, the creator of the Super-Soldier formula and Captain America. MVP was killed during a training excercise and Baron von Blitzschlag, under orders from Henry Guyrich, created a number of clones of him. While one took MVP’s place, three more were created and given the Iron Spider costume and dubbed the Scarlet Spiders.

Their first mission saw them capturing the Sinister Syndicate with the help of War Machine and Komodo. After they were sent to capture the Vulturions and Spider-man, whose identity was known to the public, Spider-man’s heroics inspired the triplet to reveal their identity as clones of MVP. When KIA, another clone of MVP, killed Van, Michael and Patrick helped in fighting the crazed clone and then quit the Initiative to join Justice’s New Warriors. During the Dark Reign, the New Warrior wanted to reveal the truth behind MVP’s death and return his body to his family. The team infiltrated Camp Stamford but Norman Osborn activated Ragnarok, Thor’s clone. It went on a rampage after finding out it wasn’t the real Thor and killed Michael. Patrick would continue to work with the New Warriors and help take Osborn down. He later became the target of Alyssa Kravenoff but manage to escape thanks to the help of Spider-man. Patrick would rejoin the Initiative under Prodigy’s leadership and helped defeat The Serpent during Fear Itself, where he prevent Crossbones from getting one of the mystic hammers.

Because the triplet wore Spider-man’s Iron Spider suit (with an extra waldo), anytime they released that suit, you could use it as one of these brothers. As such, Hasbro would release a version of it as part of their Spider-man Origin line and later re-released it was part of their Spider-man Heroes and Villains line. They would later remake this as part of Spider-man’s 60th Anniversary.
