Introduced Rampaging Hulk (Vol. 2) #2 (1998) by Glenn Greenberg and Rick Leonardi (which took place turning the early days of Bruce being on the run from the US Military), Professor Geoffrey Crawford was once a mentor to Bruce Banner that had developed a teleportation device that scanned the DNA of the subject and transports that DNA from one pod to the other. Bruce would travel to Crawford in hopes that his mentor would help find a cure for the Hulk. Bruce was shocked to know that Crawford had developed a debilitating disease and was wheelchair bound. Crawford told Bruce he would help him and did some primary scans of Bruce using his teleportation device. While Crawford had told Bruce they would continue working the next day, Crawford would sneak back into the lab.

Finding Crawford in the lab, Bruce discovered that Crawford was going to use the device to fuse Bruce’s DNA with himself. However, Crawford would emerge from the pod as a second Hulk-like being with his own intelligence. Dubbing himself Ravage, Bruce would turn into the Hulk and would battle Crawford until the morning came and Crawford transformed back into his human form, similar to how the Hulk would do the same thing when he first appeared. Crawford arranged for General Ross to come and try to capture the Hulk. Crawford then used a second set of pods to permanently transform him into Ravage. He would later battle the Hulk again, which would later lead to him being frozen by Ross via a crypto ray. He was last seen still frozen.
