Despite all that happened to her, she keeps an upbeat near childlike attitude. Introduced in New X-Men (Vol. 2) #5 (2004) by Nunzio DeFilippis, Christina Weir and Michael Ryan, Megan Gwynn was one of many mutants that joined the Xavier School after Xavier was forced to out himself as a mutant by Cassandra Nova and the school opened itself up to the mutant public. She came under the tutelage of Wolfsbane as part of the Paragon Squad and later Magma after it was discovered that Wolfsbane was in a teacher/student relationship with Elixir. She was one of a handful of students that retained her power after M-day.

She was later sucked into Limbo along with the rest of the student body. She was captured by Darkchylde, (Illyana Rasputin), who forced Megan to allow her to extract a portion of her soul to form the Souldagger. She was taught teleportation magic by Illyana and would use the Souldagger to stab Belasco, freeing her classmates and returning them to Earth. Because of her bravery, she was made a member of the X-men in training team, the New X-men. She would later help fight the Acolytes and later tried to stop the Purifiers from finding baby Hope during the Messiah Complex. She would later free Omega Sentinel from Malice’s control by stabbing her with her Souldagger.

Following the X-men disbandment, she returned home to find that Demons possessed the towns people. With the help of the X-men, she free the people and accepted the invite to join the rest of X-men to relocate to San Franscico. She would later become involved with a fight with Magik and Witchfire. She would later learn that Mastermind may be her father and would later be kidnapped by the demons N’astirh and S’ym. This would see her encounter Magik again, who she forgives for taking part of her soul to form the Souldagger. She was later invited to join Hope Summer’s Light team and was later captured by the Avengers but sent to the Avengers Academy. She later went to Wolverine’s school where she grauduated and became a full fledge X-men. She would travel to Krakoa like most mutants and would later join Nightcrawler’s Legionnaires team to rescue Legion.
