Yeah, maybe looking into his ancestors wasn’t such a good idea. Introduced in Ghost Rider (Vol. 2) #56 (1981) by Michael Fleisher and Don Perlin, Hamilton is the descendant of Lincoln Slade, the second Phantom Rider, who found the grace of Lincoln as well as his mystic costume. Lincoln spirit took over Hamilton’s body. While he was Phantom Rider, Hamilton didn’t have control nor memories of these adventures. After repaying a debt to Ghost Rider (Blaze), when Rick Jones sent out a signal for Hulk stopping the Hulk from being controlled by the Corruptor, Phantom Rider, along with Texas Twister, Firebird, Shooting Star and Red Wolf, arrived to help, forming a new team afterwards known as the Rangers.

When Shooting Star turned the team against the West Coast Avengers, Lincoln encountered Mockingbird again, after she let him fall to his death after he kidnapped her and brainwashed her when she time-travelled back in time. He began processing Hamilton more often and began stalking Mockingbird, revealing to Hawkeye what really happened in the past, forcing Hawkeye to kick her off the team and breaking up their marriage. Mockingbird began suspecting Hamilton but when she confronted him, he revealed he didn’t know what she was talking about.

Suspecting that Hamilton was telling the truth and with the aid of Daimon Hellstrom, she performed a ritual on Hamilton. But unexpectedly, not only was Hamilton processed by Lincoln but also his great-uncle Carter. Carter aided Daimon in stopping Lincoln and was willing to go to hell to save Hamilton, but Hamiltion stopped the ritual and allowed Carter to process his body. Carter allowed Hamilton to become Phantom Rider himself but with Carter only aiding and advising Hamilton, not controlling him. Hamilton would go on many adventures as Phantom Rider but would eventually perish while aiding Hawkeye and Mockingbird stopping his daughter who was processed by Lincoln.
