  • Origin: Carl Mach was a mercenary hired by the Life Foundation. In order to fulfill his role as a superhuman officer for the corporation’s future utopia, he was granted one of the 5 symbiotes forcibly spawned from the Venom symbiote.

He was the self-appointed leader of the team. Introduced in Venom: Lethal Protector #4 by David Michelinie and Ron Lim, Carl Mach was mercenary that was working for the Life Foundation. After the Foundation extracted 5 symbiotes from the Venom symbiote, Mach was bonded with the yellow one (which would later become known as Phage as decided by fans). He would battle Spider-man and Later Venom when they arrived at the Foundation. Mach, along with the other hosts, would leave the Foundation when the symbiotes tried to gain control over their hosts. They tried to get Brock to teach them how to control their symbiotes, but he refused believing they would end up like Carnage. After they found Agony and it’s host dead, Phage believed that Venom had killed her and went to hunt him down. He was attacked and killed by a crazed Scream. The symbiote would go onto other hosts.

After the release of Scream and Lasher, people have been asking Hasbro to complete the Life Foundation symbiotes. Phage was one of the symbiotes not to get a figure in the Planet of Symbiotes toylines during the early Toybiz day. He would eventually receive a proper ML figure in the Venom Venompool wave.

  • Background:
    • This is Carl Mach that was bonded with one of the Life Foundation symbiotes. Because of the coloring of the time, he would appear in a shade of yellow, orange or a mixture of both so there was never a consistence color for him, but most think of him as yellow.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you got the Scream and Lasher figure, then you will need this to continue building that team. This is also needed for a Venom/Symbiote collection as Papa Venom needs his kids. Spider-man collectors might also want this figure for their villains shelf. If you have no interest in that, then skip.
