She became more popular then the character that she was created only to add emotion for. Introduced in X-Men Unlimited #27 (2000) by Chris Claremont, Joe Pruett and Brett Booth, Karima was once a police officer in India. While investigating the disappearances of a number of people, she met Neal Shaara, who was looking for his brother. The two partnered up and would eventually develop feelings for each other, until they were captured by Bastion, during his Operation: Zero Tolerance. Bastion revealed that Karima was in fact one of his Prime Sentinels, humans transformed into Cyborgs that would act as sleeper agents. He was going to transform Neal into another Prime Sentinel but the shock of seeing his lover suffer cause his mutant powers to activate. Using his power, he attacked Bastion, who fled. Knowing that she would soon turn into a Sentinel, Karima told Neal to leave her. Neal would go onto join the X-men as the third Thunderbird and Karima wouldn’t be seen again for quite a while.
She would eventually resurfaced on Genosha, after it was destroyed by Cassandra Nova’s monster Sentinels. With the help of Xavier and Magneto, she regained her human mind but kept the cyborg enhancements, becoming a member of the Genosha’s Excalibur. Soon after that she was found disassembled and rescued by Beast, who repaired her. She was recruited by Rogue to join her team of X-men against the Children of the Vault. She would later become processed by Malice and forced to join the Marauders until she was freed by Pixie. With the help of the Acolytes, she rescued Xavier’s body and helped him recover before joining the rest of the X-men on Utopia.
When Bastion returned, he reactivated her Sentinel side and forced her to attack the X-men. She was stop and almost destroyed by Hellion. She would later return after she was infected by Arkea, the sister of the living bacteria Sublime. She was rescued by the X-men, in a very weakened state. She was revealed to have turn mostly human, with her Sentinel part becoming deactivated. While she stay with the X-men for a while, she would soon leave the team. During House of X, she would have for Sentinel side reactivated and was Nimrod second in command. She would fight against the X-men.
Omega Sentinel had a bit of a following since she was brought into Rogue’s team of X-men and has been requested many times by fans. However, given her design, most had given up on her. However, her major role in Hickman’s House of X/Power of X books has boast her requests immensely. Hasbro responded to the requests by given us a 2-version in one figure as part of that wave.
