He was the man who trained Wolverine in the way of the Samurai. Introduced in Kitty Pryde and Wolverine #1 (1984) by Chris Claremont and Al Milgrom, Ogun was a ninja/samurai who was serving in the Japanese Imperial Army when he encountered Logan in Shanghai. The two became friends and Ogun offered to train Logan. Years later, Logan would accept his offer and trained under Ogun in the Way of the Samurai, regarding Ogun as a father figure. However, they were attacked by a local warlord and Ogun brutally defended and killed the attackers. Ogun taunted the warlord, dropping his sword and telling the warlord to stab him with his sword. The warlord did but Ogun only laugh and removed the sword from his stomach, using it to kill the warlord. Ogun revealed to Logan that he had the ability to take over other people’s body. He wanted to take over Logan’s body, but Logan had left his teacher after finding out the truth.
Ogun would begin training to perfect his techinques and would eventually join the Yakuza. He would eventually kidnap Kitty Pryde and brainwashed her into believing she was his daughter. He would train her in ninjitsu and was going to take over her body before Logan arrived and rescued her. Logan would retrain Kitty and she went to defeat Ogun. He was too strong for her though, but she managed to resist him taking over her body. Wolverine came to Kitty’s aid, and he would kill his old master, taking his mask. It was later revealed that the mask contained Ogun spirit and he would begin possessing people a number of times and attacking Logan, like when he possessed a psychic named Mister X and forced Logan to fight in a bloodsport. During this time, Logan though he had finally defeated his master and Ogun’s spirit was sent to hell where Satan would send him to fight Wolverine. He, of course would return, taking on a new body and calling him Shogun.
We haven’t gotten a proper figure for Ogun but the figure stand that the Toybiz Series 6 Wolverine came with had Ogun sculpted into it and could move slightly.

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Series 6 Wolverine’s Stand – Ogun
- Background:
- While he was training Logan, Ogun would wearing traditional garbs of samurai’s.
- Why do you need it for your collection?
- Honestly, I don’t think many people will want this as it’s not its own figure. but if you must have an Ogun in your Wolverine’s villain’s display. I recommend waiting for an eventual remake in one of the needs designs below.
- Does it need a remake?
- Yes. This needs an Actual figure.
