He is the Marvel equivalent of DC’s Star Boy. Intorduced in X-Men #107 (1977) by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum, Neutron was a member of the Shi’Ar Imperial Guard until he, along with a number of the Guards, betrayed them to side with Deathbird and the Brood, in her attempt to overthrow Lilandra. When they were defeated, he was pardoned and reinstated, but his family wanted nothing to do with him. He decided to dedicate his life to the Guard. He would later clash with Quasar (Vaughn) before he was tasked by the empire to subjugate any planets that wanted to break away from the empire, following the Shi’Ar’s defeat by the Inhuman led Kree. He was later sent to the fault where they encountered Cancer-verse’s X-men. He died protecting his fellow Guard, Fang. His position in the Guard has since been another member of his race, dubbed Neutron II.
