Changing into his DD costume, he went to confront him but Muse manage to drive him off by using a dummy grenade and escaping. He was next spotted when he kidnapped a Judge, a lawyer and some officers who were trying to stop the public from looking at his mural. Blindspot was there and chased after Muse into the sewers. Muse noticed him and gave chase but Blindspot used his suit to find from him and rescue the hostages but was captured. DD came to rescue him and Muse plucked out Blindspot’s eyes. He escaped by entering the room where he was draining the blood of his still alive victims and cut them down, forcing DD to save them. DD caught up to him on a rooftop, where Muse was confronted by the Inhuman police. DD was about to attack him for what he did to Blindspot, only for Muse to break his own fingers. He was taken away by the police.

He was taken to New Attilan and his hands eventually heal. After Kingpin became mayor of New York and enacted a strict anti-vigilante law, Muse became inspired by DD and escaped prison. He began painting mural in support of vigilantes and on one mural, he was confronted by the police, which he killed. He was later confronted by Blindspot, who had regained his sight thanks to the Hand. He defeated Muse with the help of the Beast but refused to kill Muse. Muse found this unacceptable and threw himself into a fire, killing himself. In hell, he noticed the soul of Morgan Whittier, who he inspired to become the second Muse. Appearing as a ghost to her, he helped her fight DD and continue his legacy. After creating a evil Elektra, he somehow escaped Hell where he set up a new studio in Chicago. This brought him to the attention of Eddie Brock, who was bonded with the Carnage symbiote.
