She can smash through universes…. literally. Introduced in Vengeance #1 (2011) by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta, America and her sister, Catalina, were brought to a medical island by their mothers, Amalia and Elena. With the help of Mr. Gales, America began developing her powers. When her mothers found out that Gales was forcing America to use her powers, they tried to stop him. He killed Elena causing Amalia to flee with her daughter. America activated her power and was about to take Catalina with her when she was dragged back by Gales. America arrived back with the island in flames, believing she had lost everything.

She was found and adopted by Santana family. After a few years, she began telling her parents her “origins”, which she believe she was from an alternate dimension and her mothers were super-being. As the years went on, she began using her powers to defend Washington Heights. This brought her into conflict with the Santana’s, which eventually led her to denouncing their surname and becoming America Chavez again. She began believing her own story of her origins, to the point where she believe it was real. She would travel across dimensions and would eventually join the Teenage Brigade, serving as co-leader under the Ultimate Nullifier. Together, they stopped the Young Masters from disrupting the balance between Chaos and Order. She would eventually leave the team.

She was later recruited by Kid Loki to join the Young Avengers. She helped the team with Mother, using her powers to allow the team to hop between universes to escape her before they defeated her. After the Secret Wars, she joined the Ultimates, but they broke up after the second Civil War. She would later help stop a horde of land sharks, joining the West Coast Avengers team. After remembering her true origins, she would join up with Loki’s Defenders team who she hoped would help her find her sister. When Luke Cage became mayor of New York, she was invited to join his new Thunderbolts team.
