Probably had the sincerest relationship with Hawkeye. Introduced in Astonishing Tales #6 (1971) by Len Wein and Neal Adams, Barbara “Bobbi” Morse was a chemist who was working on the Project: Gladiator program, which had backing from SHIELD. Bobbi would receive training from SHIELD and was assigned to begin a relationship with Dr. Paul Allen, who was working for AIM. Allen and Ellen Brandt sabotaged the project which eventually led to Ted Sallis become Man-Thing. Bobbi followed Allen to the Savage Land to search for Ka-Zar. They brought Ka-Zar to Florida and Allen revealed his alliance to AIM. Bobbi revealed that she was working for SHIELD against Allen, using the code name Agent 19. Allen would be killed by Man-Thing while Bobbi and Ka-Zar went to New York to defeat Victorius. She would journey to the Savage Land with Ka-Zar but would eventually return to the States.

She would briefly leave SHIELD and became Huntress but because of her taunting her opponents she earned the nickname Mockingbird, which she took as for codename. She would team up with Spider-man to defeat Carl Delandan but upon returning to SHIELD, a miscommunication cause SHIELD agents to shoot at her cause her to fall into a coma. After being part of the original Contest of Champions, she became a freelance agent and would later meet Hawkeye. He was currently the chief of security for Cross Tech when she told him that there may have been a mind control device in the company. They teamed up to investigate and battled Crossfire. Hawkeye would lose most of his hearing dues to the villain’s ultrasound attack, but Bobbi and Clint would elope soon after.

Now married the pair would return to the Avengers and Vision would assign them to create a new team on the west coast. Named the Avengers West Coast (or more commonly the West Coast Avengers), the pair would be a central part of the team. However, this all came apart during a time travel event in the Wild West. While in this time Phantom Rider fell in love with Mockingbird and while the rest of the WCA were trapped in Ancient Egypt, he kidnapped her. He made her drink a potion that made her fall in love with him. After a while, the potion wore off and she would realize what he did, including having a sexual relationship with him while she was under the influence of the potion. (In case anyone is wondering that is rape). She tracked him down near a cliff and he fell off the edge. He gripped the edge, but the rain was causing him to slip. Bobbi just watched him fall without helping him. The WCA would rescue Bobbi and return to the present, but the Rider’s spirit would haunt Bobbi, even possessing his descendant. During this time, he revealed to the team about how he died, which left Hawkeye no choice but to remove Bobbi from the team. (Avengers weren’t allowed to kill at the time.) The couple would break up with Tigra and Moon Knight leaving the team with Bobbi.

After exorcising the Rider, the trio would break up with Tigra returning to the Avengers. The rift between her and Hawkeye grew when he discovered that she was involved with dismantling Vision, after Vision tried to take over the world’s computers. However, they would join to train the Great Lake Avengers. After the UN carter revamp of the Avengers, Ultron would kidnap her to use her brain patterns to create Alkhema, the robot’s second attempt at a wife. Clint, then using the Goliath identity, rescued Bobbi and the pair began repairing their relationship. The relationship was looking strong, but Bobbi was later killed by Mephisto.

Or so it’s seemed as shortly after Clint and Bobbi got back together, she was kidnapped and replaced by the Skrulls. The Skrull, who had all of Mockingbird’s memories and emotions, died instead of Bobbi and Bobbi spent years on the Skrull home world before being captured and sent back to Earth on a ship. During the Secret Invasion, this ship, she would crash land in the Savage Land and after a battle with the Avengers and Skrull imposter, she was reunited with Clint, who was then Ronin. She would join the New Avengers and set up her own spy agency World Counterterrorism Agency (WCA). During a mission with Clint, they finally put the Rider incident behind them. She was one of the female Avengers that went to rescue Clint when he tried to kill Osborn. After another mission with another Phantom Rider, she was gravely injured and received an injection from Nick Fury that saved her life and gave her enhanced abilities.

When Osborn was removed from power, Steve Rogers assigned her to his Secret Avengers team. She was later brainwashed by AIM and taken to their hideout. She escaped and was rescued by Quake and Winter Soldier. She would rejoin SHIELD and was assigned to be the liaison to Parker Industries. She would help Spider-man battle many villains and would later become the handler for Silk, who she helped track down Silk’s missing family. She joined the Underground during Secret Empire. Afterwards SHIELD dissolved, she would begin a relationship with Spider-man. They would remain together for a while with Parker moving in with her after the fall of his company but would later break up when they realized they had nothing in common. She would later join GIRLs (Genius In action Research Lab) as a mentor and became close with Nadia Pym and Ying. She would later join a new team of the West Coast Avengers.

Mockingbird has been a fan request for many years, mostly for the WCA team. She would receive a figure as part of the Civil War Red Onslaught wave.
