He is Marvel’s version of the biblical devil. Introduced in Silver Surfer #3 (1968) by Stan Lee, John Buscema and Jerry Robinson, Mephisto is a ruler of Marvel’s version of Hell. He has been interfering with humanity for since the dawn of man, wanting to bring as many souls as he can to torture them. He has made deals with many humans for them to gain powers, but each would of them would have a condition attached to them. One example is when Johnny Blaze sold his soul to Mephisto to save his father figure Crash Simpson from cancer, only for Crash to die in a stunt accident. When Mephisto went to claim Johnny soul, Johnny refused so Mephisto fused his soul with Zarathos and transformed him into his Ghost Rider.

He also loves pure souls. As such he would try and corrupt souls like Silver Surfer and Thor. He would also work with other villains like when he helped Thanos gather the Infinity Stones for the Infinity Gauntlet. He also created a few children like Blackheart and Mephista. He also was one of the souls used to create Daimon Helstrom. He would battle with pretty much every hero in the Marvel Universe. He has been “killed” and imprisoned several times but always return.

As one of Marvel major villains, Mephsito has been requested by fans since the start of Marvel Legends. However, due to his resemblance to the biblical devil, toy companies are reluctant to make him for mass market. Diamond Select would release a figure as part of their Marvel Select line. Unfortunately, it is extremely rare and nearly 200$ on secondary markets. Hasbro tried to release their version of Mephisto as an incentive for their Haslab Engine of Vengeance (Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider) project, but the project failed to reach its backing numbers.
