The tragic former wife of Namor. Introduced in Alpha Flight #1 (1983) by John Byrne, Marrina is a member of the Plodex rest and was found as an egg by the Smallwood family. She would hatch be be imprinted with her mother human DNA. She would grow up normally until see gained the attention of James Hudson. She would be recruited into the Flight program and became a trainee in the Gamma Flight program before graduating to Alpha Flight. She would remain with the team after the government cut the funding and when the team became  independent. She would leave the team when she came under the control of the Master of the World and learnt of her people history.

She would begin a relationship with Namor before she was kidnapped by the Collector as part of his collection of unique species. However, he had also kidnapped Spider-man and working together, they escaped The Collectors ship. She would return to Namor and the two would fall in love and be married. After Namor lost his position of king of Atlantis, Marrina would go with him to join the Avengers, gaining reserve membership. They would eventually convince children but this cause her to transform into a berserking monster, who went on a rampage. The Avengers had no choice but to kill her being stabbed with Black Knight’s ebony blade, devastating Namor.

However, it was discovered she was alive but in a deep state of suspend sleep. She was capture by the Master of the World and kept in suspended animation. Her soul was eventually reunited with her body when Namor was stabbed by the Ebony Blade and rescued her soul from it. She was eventually used by Norman Osborn in revenge against Namor after he betray him and sided with the X-men. She was forced to transform into her leviathan form and attack the Atlanteans. After teleporting his citizen away, Namor had no choice but to kill her to stop her rampage.

She would eventually be revived when Sasquatch made a deal with the Great Beast to revive the Alpha Flight member to combat the Chaos King. After the King was defeated, the team would remain in the living world. After her revival, Marrina would adopt a new harsher attitude. She would eventually return to her more innocent attitude before join Carol Danver’s new version of Alpha Flight but would remain on Earth in supporting role.

Possible Figures

  • Which has the best chance of being made? – Out of all the ones about, the Original design and later Namor’s love design have the best chance of being made. Other then that then the Fall of X might be made. Other then that, the other three have very little chance of being made.
  • How can it be made? – Honestly I think the only reason we haven’t gotten her in the Alpha Flight box set is because they didn’t and probably still don’t have the right body for her. Her Torso would need to have “scales”. However if they do make her, they can use it for other character like Namora, Namorita, Dorma etc. As for how they could release her, she really doesn’t fit into any of the major wave, including X-men and Avengers. Instead the best chance we have for her is to be part of fan channel single retro card, part of a 2-pack with another Alpha Flight member or as a multi-pack.
