This symbiote has more hosts than Venom and Carnage….combined. Introduced in Venom #1 (2003) by Daniel Way and Francisco Herrera, this symbiote is a clone of Venom that was created using a tongue of Venom that was cut off during a fight with Spider-man and the F4. Created by the Ararat Corporation they would force it to bond with hosts, but he would kill many of them until he bonded with Alfonse Poina. He would be sent to the Artic and put into storage but eventually was released and bonded with Patricia Robertson after jumping from various hosts. It would eventually travel to New York and would fight Venom but lost the fight and was re-merged with Venom.

A few years later, when Flash Thompson was bonded with the Venom symbiote, he used a piece of the symbiote to protect Andi Benton. This bonded with her, and they became Mania. After investigating, it turned out that this piece of Venom was the clone that it re-absorbed. Andi was allowed to continue to be Mania, but she was later attacked and the Symbiote was stolen by men working for Lee Price, a former Venom host. The symbiote was forced to bond with Price, who became Maniac. Using the symbiote, he created copies and forced them to bond with villains, like Hammerhead, to serve him. It took the combined might of Agent Anti-Venom, Spider-man and more to defeat him. They were taken to Rykers and began calling themselves Venom but the symbiote was later absorbed by Carnage, working for Knull.

This symbiote has the unfortunate luck of appearing extremely similar to Venom (though this symbiote is usually blue instead of black.) Thus, people not really knowing it exists. It would receive a figure as a Mania figure as part of a Fan Channel Exclusive 2-pack with Space Venom.

Background:
- In order to protect her from an explosion by Jack O’Lantern, Agent Venom sent part of his symbiotes to shield his neighboor Andi Benton. For some reason though, she would bond with the piece and became Mania, with her look being inspired by Agent Venom. It was later revealed this is piece was the Venom Clone that Venom had previously absorbed.
