He is what Adam Warlock fears he will become. Introduced in Strange Tales #178 (1974) by Jim Starlin, the Magus is a future version of Adam Warlock that has been corrupted. He would gather followers as the leader of the Universal Church of Truth and began converting planets to his ways. Any that didn’t convert with be destroyed. He would begin manipulating his past self in order to become what he was but was eventually stopped when Adam swore not to become him, erasing his timeline from the universe.

He would eventually be reborn into the Prime Universe and recreated his Church. He would eventually create evil doppelgangers of Earth heroes and send them to battle Earth. He would eventually be absorbed into the Soul Gem. He would eventually escape but was eventually absorbed back into Adam after a while. However, Adam would eventually turn into him and was killed by the GOTG. This time in the Canververse. He would be killed by Lord Mar-Vell, an evil version of Mar-Vell but resurrected by the Church. After he was defeated once more, the Church turn against him and tried to kill him.

The Magus is considered Adam’s second most important villain after Thanos, particularly since the Magus is what Adam could become. While we didn’t get a full figure of him, he would get a swappable head with the GOTG Vol. 2 Mantis wave.
