When the human nearly destroyed themselves in Nuclear war, it makes sense when a Hulk begins ruling over the survivors of humanity. Introduced in Hulk: Future Imperfect #1 (1992) by Peter David and George Pérez, this version of Hulk was kept in a virtual world by AIM after most of the world’s human and superhumans were destroyed. Awakening decades later, Hulk began travelling the States. He would eventually met some humans and Machine Man that a new leader known as the Maestro was ruling over the last of humanity. Hulk went to met this man, who turned out to be Hercules. After meeting with Rick Jones, Hulk would battle Hercules and with the aid of a gun designed to kill the Hulk, killed Hercules taking on the name Maestro and ruling over the city of Distopia.

Years later, he would fight and eventually team up with the Exiles and helped battle a Proteus controlled Hulk 2099. He would later team up with Genis Vell and Spider-man 2099 and fought against Thanatos, another version of Rick Jones. In the Future Imperfect storyline, a group of rebel brought the prime Hulk, now under the Professor Hulk persona, to this time. Prof Hulk met and battle Maestro but was defeated. The rebel then used Doom’s Time Machine to sent Maestro back in time to the site of the Gamma bomb that created the Hulk. He was believed destroyed but his consciousness remained at the site. It was revealed that every time that Hulk returned to the site, Maestro would absorb the Hulk gamma radiation to reform his own body. He would eventually return to his own time and began conquering the world. He would later be summoned as part of the Contest of Champions, where he would summon many heroes from alternate timelines to do battle.

Peter David’s storyline is one of Hulk most famous stories as well as considered one of the most important. As such, Maestro, the main villain of the book, would eventually get a number of figures over the years. He would receive his first Marvel Legends as part of the Apocalypse series from Toybiz. He would later receive a fan channel exclusive.

Future Imperfect Vers. 2

Recommend Figure:  Toybiz Marvel Legends Apocalypse Series Maestro

  • Background:
    • When Professor Hulk was sent into the future, he met this version of himself, a Hulk that had taken over the city of Distopia and had been driven made by the excess radiation. Maestro wore this version of his regal costume when battling Hulk and other heroes.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you are a Hulk fan, this or the one below  are a must. He is one of the most important alternate version of the hero/villain who has battle many other heroes, like Spider-man 2099, the Exiles etc.

    • Yes. We just got a more generic version so we need to get a more iconic remake.
