He has went from the God of Mischief to the God of Evil. Introduced in Journey into Mystery#85 (1962), by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby, Loki was the tiny son of a Frost Giant, Laufey, that Odin had killed. Taken pity on the child and wishing to close the hatred between the 2 races, Odin took the child as his own and raise him as his son, alongside his true son, Thor. Growing up jealous of Thor’s good looks and charisma, he turned to studying dark magic, which he used for pranks. Eventually he tried to conquer Asgard only to be defeated by Odin and sealed in a tree. He was eventually released and started a campaign to not only conquer Asgard and Midgard (Earth) but also to destroy Thor.

He would team up with many villains of Thor, particularly Enchantress and Executioner, and has been even responsible for creating many of Marvel big villains like the Absorbing man and the Wrecking Crew. However, he does not want to destroy Asgard. He simply want to rules it. He has died a few times only to be resurrected. During one of the recent resurrection, he has used his trickery as a spy for Asgard working against other to try and help the heroes but usually only to benefit himself.

As for figures, Loki never really has many figure over the years. TB did one during there run, with a Variant as well. Hasbro also did one but that was an exclusive and they did a Lady Loki as well which is also an exclusive. They are releasing a Classic version in the Avenger:Endgame wave.

Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers: Endgame Wave – Loki OR Avengers Vintage Loki

  • Background:
    • This is Loki as he originally appeared in Thor’s stories. It is what the rest of his costumes are based on. It also should be known that the ponytail on his helmet was originally Sif blond hair.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • That the moment, this is currently the best Loki figure out there.  This is need for your classic collection as well as Thor, Avengers and many more. If you missed the Endgame version you can get the Vintage as they are essentially the same figure.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Crown Of Lies

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Marvel Legends Onslaught Series Loki (Variant)

  • Background:
    • In one of many times Loki gained control over Asgard, he wore this for while. I’m not really sure of the story.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • I would recommend skipping this figure. As you can see it has very bad legs and the sculpt is bad overall. Not worth getting unless you are a Loki fan.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. Not a important story line and it comes from a time Marvel and Kirby was fighting.

Mini-Series

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Marvel Legends Onslaught Series Loki

  • Background:
    • Taken from a mini-series that shows Loki ruling Asgard and showing how he handle the affair and his eventual fall, this costume then made the leap into the main universe which he wore for a while before his death during Ragnarok.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Again I would recommend skipping this figure as it is another awful figure with majorly bad legs. It not really based on a true Main universe costume.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. There are other more important costumes that need to be done.

Lady Loki

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Toy-R-Us Exclusive Marvel Legends  A-Force Box Set (6 figure set alongside She-Hulk, Lady Sif, Monica Rambaeu, Signularity and Elsa Bloodstone) Or Avengers Vintage – Agent of Asgard Loki

  • Background:
    • After Thor’s series was relaunched in the Reborn storyline, Thor went about searching for other Asgardians who had taken on human forms. He eventually tracked down Loki who appeared to taken on a female form. However it was later discovered that he had taken over Sif body, who was placed in a dying woman’s body. He eventually split with the body and her life was saved by Thor. This was eventually show again in Secret Wars, as part of the A-force, making it it’s own character in an alternate universe.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Whether or not you are getting the set just for Loki, I highly recommend getting the set as there are 4 brand new characters that may never get a re-release. However if you missed the set and want a Lady Loki, you should get the Vintage version.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Siege on Asgard

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Walmart Exclusive Thor: The Mighty Avenger Loki

  • Background:
    • After Loki regained his body, became part of Osborn’s Cabal and set Balder as the new king of Asgard (because he is the half brother of Thor), Loki went about trying to set Osborn up to attack Asgardia in Oklahoma. First he set Volstagg to be attack and caused an explosion in a packed stadium. Using this he pushed Osborn to attack, citing it was for defence of the US. However this battle lead to the death of Ares by the void and lead Loki to switch side and try and stop him. He sacrificed his life to help.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • With the release of the Classic version, I would recommend only getting this hard to find exclusive if you are a Loki fan.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. Fine as is.
