Who is a good, giant, teleporting, Inhuman bulldog? This guy. Introduced in Fantastic Four #45 (1965) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Lockjaw is the results of an Inhuman experiment on canines. His mother was impregnated by her own DNA which resulted in five puppies. However, in order to protect his siblings, Lockjaw used his powers to teleport his siblings to various places and even one to the Larval verse. Lockjaw was born and became close to Black Bolt and Crystal, becoming a member of the Royal Family. After Maximus took over the throne, Lockjaw went with the other members in exile and they began searching for Medusa, who had gone missing many months ago and had now lost her memories. This search brought them in contact with the Fantastic Four. The two teams would battle at first, but they would work together to take back the Inhuman throne from Maximus. However, as a failsafe, Maximus erected an impenetrable dome over the city, causing the Inhumans to be trapped in their city.

However, thanks to his power, Lockjaw wasn’t trapped. He eventually teleported to New York, where he encountered Johnny Storm and Wyatt Wingfoot. Johnny thought Lockjaw could take him to see Crystal but instead the dog took them on a journey across dimensions. Lockjaw would return to Attilan and was reunited with the Royal Family, after Black Bolt used his power to free the city but resulted in him destroying the majority of the city. He would teleport Crystal to New York, where she would be reunited with Johnny. He would stay with the F4 and Crystal, hopping between the F4 and Inhumans. Skipping a bit, because it’s mostly him teleporting others and being part of the Inhumans, Lockjaw would eventually become the pet of other heroes, particular Thing and Ms. Marvel. He would later be summoned by Throg to become part of the 616 Pet Avengers.

People have been asking for a Lockjaw figure for as long as there has been a Marvel Legends line. He would eventually receive a figure as part of a 2-pack with Crystal.

  • Background:
    • Lockjaw is an oversized bulldog (with a tunning fork on his head). As such, he is depicted as such but due to the various artist that has drawn him, he has had a variety of designs and shades of brown. He has also been drawn bigger and smaller.
  • Why do you need it for your collection?
    • This is a character you WILL need for the Inhuman’s collections. He and Crystal are core members of the Royal family. You may also want to get him for your Fantastic Four collections as well as the pet of Ms. Marvel. Of course, you may also want to get him to complete the Pet Avengers.
  • Does it need a remake?
    • No.
