It seems no matter the universe, Jean Grey will either be the first mutant to be recruited or become the Phoenix. Introduced in X-Men: Alpha #1 (1995) by Scott Lobdell, Mark Waid, Roger Cruz and Steve Epting, Jean was the first mutant that Magneto recruited into the X-men, beyond his children. There, she met, fell in love and married Logan, known in this universe as Weapon X. During a mission, Jean was captured by Mr. Sinister, who then extracted her DNA and combined it with Cyclops, one of Apocalypse servants, to create Nate Grey. She was eventually rescued by Weapon X but since the X-men never went to rescue her, they quit the X-men.
The two traveled to Europe where they became agents for the High Human Council. They eventually got information from Mr. Sinister about an attack on Europe. They went to the Apocalypse’s sea wall to destroy it and allow the HHC to send Sentinels to help evacuate the citizen of America. However, she learnt that HHC was going to launch a nuclear attack on America. Knowing that this was necessary but feeling it was wrong, Jean left her husband to warn people on the attack. She then tried to sneak into Apocalypse base but was captured by Havok. She was given to Dark Beast but with the help of Cyclops escaped. During a battle between the X-men and Apocalypse, Jean and Cyclops help prisoners to escape. As the warheads were on their way, Jean projected a shield to protect the people but was believed killed by Havok, who was then killed by Weapon X. As Weapon X cradle his wife in his arms, the warheads dropped.
Although they were believed killed, Jean had attracted the Phoenix Force and used it’s powers to save America. She was then kidnapped by Sinister and held for many years. Using this to his advantage, Sinister blackmailed Magneto to leave him alone. Eventually, Magneto told the truth and the X-men went to rescue her. There, they battled the Sinister Six, which included a brainwashed Jean who killed Sunfire. Weapon X snapped her out of it. After defeating Sinister, Magneto handed himself over to the authorities and Jean became the head of the X-men.
At some point in time, the Uncanny X-force, of the Prime universe, ventured into this universe to gain a Life Seed to stop Archangel. Jean’s team initially battle the X-force before they teamed up. She was shocked to see Wolverine because her husband had gone missing. It was eventually learnt that he had become the newest Apocalypse. After helping the X-force in there own universe, she eventually battle against her husband but lost her powers and joined the X-terminated. She helped bring down her husband before eventually taking on the mantle and powers of Apocalypse for herself. She sacrificed herself to rescue her teammates.
AOA Jean Grey is actually notorious for getting a figure that was never released. She was supposed to be running variant of the Rocket Raccoon mini-baf wave’s version of Jim Lee’s Jean Grey, alongside White Phoenix. However, Hasbro distribution was horrid at the time and store never order a second batch, so the regular figure where hard to find, never mind the variants, all of which never made it out of the factories. While most of the variants of that wave eventually was made and released in some form, the AOA version (based on her costume from the Uncanny X-force comic) never got release. However, when Hasbro announced a Age of Apocalypse line, the one of last 2 figure of the regular figure was Jean Grey from her original costume.

- Background:
- Jean grey as she appeared in the Weapon Alpha comics. In it she was married to Weapon X and would work with him to complete missions.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you are collecting the Age of Apocalypse characters, then you will need this. Also if you are a Wolverine collector and are getting the Weapon X for it, this you should get this to display with it. This is absolutely needed for a Jean Grey collection as well. If it’s none of the above then skip.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
