Point of fact. She never used the name Iron Man. Introduced by Invincible Iron Man (Vol. 3) #7 (2016) by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato, Riri Williams was a child genius that witness her step-father’s and best friend get shot during a picnic with the family. This cause her to try an build an armor to protect people. She would eventually get the designs of one of Iron Man’s armors and reversed engineer it into her own version of the armor. This brought her to the attention of Tony Stark, who wanted to take her on as his protégé. However, Tony died during the second Civil War but he sent Riri an AI program to help her build her second armor. She then took on the name Ironheart.
She would battle the Tech-ninja and even helped prevent Latvaria from being taken over by Lucia von Bardas. During the Secret Empire, she met other young heroes, including the Champion. When the Champions had their recruitment drive, she was invited to join the team by Amadeus Cho. She went with them into outer space but her armor was destroyed by Thanos. Under the advise of Vivian Vision, she designed a brand new, more unique armor. She would have her own adventures as well as gaining a lab in MIT. She would help many young heroes in their fight to over turn the Underage Superhuman Welfare Act, a law that prevented under age heroes from vigilantism.
Despite the backlash the character received following her introduction, Riri has become a very popular character (mostly because they took her away from Bendis), making the jump to the animated universe (both the Rising series and the Spider-man tv series) as well as getting a new live action TV series. However, she wouldn’t receive a figure until the Iron Man’s Ursa Wave.
