I don’t think any of Tony’s exes were as obsessed with him as this armor. Introduced in Iron Man (Vol. 3) #26 (Feb 2000) by Joe Quesada and Sean Chen, after having updated the software of his armor with Jocasta’s AI, Tony went to battle Whiplash during a lightning storm. During the fighting, Tony and Whiplash, with new whips, were struck with lightning, causing Tony to have a heart attack. The combination of all of the above caused his armor to somehow gain sentient. At first Tony and the suit got along, working together to fight crime. The suit began to develop a fondness for Tony.

However, during another fight with Whiplash, the suit killed the villain. Try as he might, Tony couldn’t get the suit to acknowledge what he had done was wrong. They returned to the mansion and while the armor was charging, Jocasta helped Tony try and get one of his older suits, but the suit found him and attacked Tony in a jealous rage. The suit then forced Tony to wear him and abandoned him on a deserted island, telling Tony to submit to him or die. He tortured Tony for a week and eventually left to fight a villain allowing Tony to escape his bondage. The suit returned and Tony tried to fight it off, but the suit was too powerful for it. Tony would suffer a heart attack and was going to die but the suit ripped out its core and put it in Tony to save his life. The suit was later used by Ultron to control the Sons of Yinsen.

While this suit is not the most famous version of Iron Man, this storyline is one of fans’ favourite. It would receive a figure as part of “The Marvels” Totally Awesome Hulk wave.
