Grandmaster wasn’t the only one who liked the DC universe it seems. Introduced in Avengers (Vol. 8) #10 (2018) by Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness, Hyperion and the rest of Squadron Supreme of America were created to serve a revived Phil Coulson. Coulson program Hyperion to believe that he was an alien elite that was raised in rural America and that he was a school history teacher. He was also made to believe he was in a relationship with Zarda, aka Power Princess. When the Avengers moved to Avengers Mount and weren’t aligned to any country, Coulson presented the team as America’s core superhero team to General Ross.

They were sent to battle Namor and his Defenders of the Deep, with Hyperion holding his own against Namor. During the War of the Realm, the Squadron routed the Frost Giant over to Canada. During the contest of the Phoenix, in which the Phoenix held a contest to find its next host, Hyperion was chosen as one of the contestants. He fought Shang-Chi but the power of the Phoenix caused him to lose control and he forfeited the fight. Coulson later used the Pandemonium Cube to change the universe into a new Heroes Reborn universe with the Squadron being the main superhero team of the world. When Blade and other worked to restore the universe, Coulson would become trapped in the Cube by Mephisto and the Squadron returned to the Prime Universe with their memories intact.

Of all the Squadron, Hyperion is probably the most famous character after Nighthawk. This version of the Super-man rip-off is a fairly new version of the character but would receive a figure as part of a 2-pack with Dr. Spectrum.
