The only one without powers inherited Spider-man’s and Prowler’s tech. Introduced in Slingers #0 (1998) by Joseph Harris and Adam Pollina. Ed was a college student that became friends with Johnny Gallo and Cassie St. Commons. All three were approached by Black Marvel and offered a chance to become heroes, which Ed agreed with it as the suit hand his palsied arm move again. He redesigned the Hornet to make it easier for a normal human to carry and joined the others to become the Slingers. He was devastated when Dusk fell to her death but was convinced by Ricochet they couldn’t have prevented it.

She of course would return and the team would work together to take down a number of villains and a cell of the Maggia. They would later learn that Black Marvel was trying to recapture his glory days when he set an hotel to explode. They worked together to save the hotel guests. They would later learn that Black Marvel sold his soul to Mephisto to gain the suits and he wanted to collect. The rest wanted to leave Black Marvel to his fate but Hornet convinced them to save him because it was the right thing to do. They freed Black Marvel’s soul and returned to the human world only for the team to break up after. Both Ricochet and Hornet spread painted a billboard sign with “The Slinger were here” before departing. However, when Wolverine was under the control of Hydra and the Hand, Hornet was killed by him with Elektra cutting off his head to prevent the head from resurrecting him and turning him against his friends. His niece, Melinda, became the Red Hornet to avenge him and the Hornet identity was taken up by Cyber and later Hobie Brown.
