He is the shinning example of villains who want to change their ways. Introduced in Tales of Suspense #57 (1964) by Stan Lee and Don Heck, Clint Barton was working in a circus as a trick shot archer, when a crime in process allowed him to witness Iron man in action. This inspired him to become a hero but after stopping a crime, he was mistaken for the robber and force to flee from the cops. There he met Black Widow, who at the time was still a Russian spy for the KGB and she tricked him into falling in love with her. The two then teamed up and attacked Iron Man. However, Hawkeye realised that she was using him and tried to become a hero again. Rescuing Jarvis, Jarvis help him performed a scene where he had tied up Jarvis in an effort to force the Avengers to let him join. The team was willing to since most of the members were leaving. Thus Hawkeye became the first in a long line of villains to join the Avengers. Not only that but except Iron Man and Cap, he actually holds the record for the longest serving member of the team.
There he gained an attraction to Scarlet Witch and even left when she married Vision. But he would return when he learnt how much they loved each other. While a member of the Avengers, he felt he needed to have superpowers and for a brief time became Goliath using Hank Pym’s Particles but gave that up shortly after. He would leave the team a number of times. He would leave to prove himself better without a team only to join the Defender, even taking their side during the Avengers vs Defenders war. He later went back in time and became friends with Two-Gun Kid who he brought to the present. He later met and married Mockingbird. Around this time, he helped set up and lead the West Coast Avengers. During this time, he was force to eject his wife after she killed Phantom Rider. They eventually reunited and even helped the GLA to form. However, he later saw her die but this was in fact a Skrull.
After the heroes returned after they were sent to the Reborn universe, Hawkeye rejoined the Avengers. He would later joined and lead the Thunderbolt, who wished to become heroes. During the Disassembled arc, he was killed when he tried to stop a Kree attack. He was later revive in the House of M universe and return to the main universe after. It was around this time that the Civil war was happening, so in an effort to change himself he joined the New Avengers and became Ronin. During the Secret Invasion he was reunited with the real Mockingbird. During the Dark Reign, he attack the Dark Avengers, only to be captured by them but rescued by an all female team including Mockingbird. After Osborn was defeated, he return to being Hawkeye. He later helped set up and lead two teams of Secret Avengers, one with Avengers and another for SHIELD. He also took Kate Bishop under his wing training her to be his partner. During the Civil War II, he fulfilled a promised with Bruce Banner and killed him when he believed that he would turn back into the Hulk. He was put on trail but was acquitted which led him on a guilt trip where he travelled the US. He was the person who lead the resistance during the Secret Empire.
Hawkeye was a fan favourite inside and out of the comic and, despite how the MCU is using him, is an important part of the Marvel Universe. He has had quite a few figures over the years. Only one from TB in their ML series 7 as his classic. The next figure was his Ronin identity by Hasbro in a 2-pack with Elektra. His next 2 were his modern verion in the Rocket Racoon wave and was supposed to have a swapped with Heroic Age version but that one got push back into the Odin wave. He got an updated Classic version in the Vintage wave 2.
Have
Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends the Avengers: Beyond Earth’s Mightiest Anniversary Line deluxe – Hawkeye with skycycle
- Background:
- It wasn’t long after he joined the Avengers that Hawkeye updated his costume into a costume that we would consider his classic version. This is the costume that most of the latter costumes are based off of.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you are one of those people who have to have every classic version, then this is the version for you. It is needed for most Avengers collections.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Ronin

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends 2-packs Ronin with Elektra
- Background:
- After he was resurrected following the House of M arc, Clint was looking for a change in his career and to hid his identity. He approached the anti-Register New Avengers and Dr. Strange suggested he become Ronin, who fellow member Echo used to be.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- Unless you have to have a Ronin figure, then I would suggest skipping this figure. It was done in the Dark Days of ML and has pretty bad articulation.
- Does it need a remake?:
- Yes. A new Ronin Figure is highly needed.
Heroic Age

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers: Age of Ultron All-Father wave Hawkeye
- Background:
- After Osborn’s defeat during the Siege arc, Hawkeye regained his Hawkeye identity. He began wearing this as a member of the main Avengers team.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- We actually have a good amount of Heroic Age costumes from various heroes, so this could be used to display with them. We also have all the members of that time main Avengers team so that completes that team. However ,he would soon change into the one below so it was shortlived.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Secret Avengers

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Rocket Racoon Wave Hawkeye
- Background:
- After Cap left the Secret Avengers after Fear Itself arc, he left Hawkeye in charge of the team. He began wearing this which as you can tell is influenced by the MCU and Ultimate universe. It has since become his default cotume.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This is his most modern version to date. It is need for the Secret Avengers (both of his version) as well as to go with Kate Bishop. I recommend getting this if you want the most modern version of the character.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
