She gives the saying “Behind the Mask” a whole new meaning. Introduced in Spider-Man: The Lost Years #1 (1995) by J.M. DeMatteis and John Romita Jr., Elizabeth Tyne was abused by her father until she accidently killed him in self-defense. She fled and changed her name to Janine. She would meet and fall in love with Ben Reilly, who was on the run after his initial fight with Spider-man and didn’t know if he was the real Peter or a clone. They would each reveal their secrets but when Kaine was hunting Ben, they fled and decided to live on the road. She was eventually kidnapped by Kaine who convince her to leave Ben by faking her suicide. She would eventually reveal the truth to Ben, and they were reunited but after a fight with Kaine, she would turn herself in to the police for the murder of her father.

While she was in prison, Ben was killed and resurrected. He would begin working for the Beyond Corporation, who approached her with an offer to have her released into their custody. She refused at first but changed her mind when she learnt she could be reunited with Ben. She knew she was being used by the business to control Ben, who had taken up the mantle of Spider-man following Peter being hospitalized after a battle with the U-Foes, and after many other battles, learnt that the Beyond Corporation had planned the U-foes fight with Peter. Despite trying to expose the company schemes, Ben would lose his memories and eventually become Chasm. They would eventually team up with Madelyne Pryor, who used her magic and a finger from the demon S’ym to turn her into Hallows’ Eve. The combined might of Spider-man and the X-men eventually defeated the trio.

Janine is not a famous character, with many people not even knowing she exists. However, she would gain huge following her transformation into Hallows’ Eve. She would receive a figure as part of the fourth Spider-man retro wave.
