He has got the stone touch. Introduced in Journey into Mystery #107 (1964) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Paul Duval was a french chemist when he spill a chemical on his hands and found that he transformed into a being of living stone and that anything he touch could turn to stone. Greedy by nature, he began using these powers to become one of France’s major villains. He got bored of this and decided to achieve immortality by getting the secrets from Thor. Since then he has battle almost all heroes. He was part of the group that attack Sue and Reed’s wedding and would become a recurring villain for not only Thor but for Iron Man was well (to which the 90’s cartoon reflected).
He would also battle Captain America and Falcon and at one point even turned Falcon into living stone under his control. He would team up with many villains including Doc Ock and was a member of many of the villain side teams like the Masters and the Lethal Legion. He would try his hand at art at one point by turning his victims into statues. Skipping a bit (he has been everywhere), his next major role was when he was choosing to wield a mystic and was transformed into Mokk, the Breaker of Faith. He turned Paris into a stone city, including humans, plants and animals, and fought Iron Man.
Grey Gargoyle has been a long sought after Iron Man villain so it’s nice that we have him in the Captain Marvel wave.
