Will he live up to his uncle’s legacy? Introduced in Black Panther (Vol. 4) #23 (2006) by Reginald Hudlin, Koi Turnball, Greg Pak and Gary Frank, Thomas Foster is the nephew of Bill Foster, the second Giant man and Goliath. Following the death of his uncle, he swore revenge for his uncle death. When the Hulk put the Illuminati on trial for their part in the destruction of Sakaar, Tom would testify that Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic were responsible for the death of his uncle as they created the clone Thor. After the Hulk’s defeat, he snuck into the Avengers Mansion and stole some Pym particles.

Tom would take up his uncle mantle of Goliath and joined Wonder Man’s Revengers team. They defeated the New Avenger but were defeated by the combine might of the New and Mighty Avengers. He was sent to the Raft but later was transferred to the Cellar. The Mad Thinker tried to invite him to a prison breakout, but Tom refused and instead helped the guard against the prisoners. This earned him an early parole. During the War of the Realms, he would join Ant-man’s team of giants to infiltrate the Frost Giants.

Since Tom wear his uncle costume, he would receive a figure as part of their short-lived Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles sets for their 3 3/4inch line.

  • Background:
    • After the death of his uncle, Tom would take it upon himself to take up the mantle of Goliath, using his uncle costume, in order to get revenge against the Avengers. He would eventually stop seeking revenge and work to live up to his uncle legacy.
  • Why do you need it for your collection?
    • The figure itself should be used for Bill but if you want to use it for Tom, you can use it in a Revengers or Giant-men display.
  • Does it need a remake?
    • Yes, if only to get it out to more people.
