When you can’t use Human Torch for your cartoon, you create your own fire-based character. Created for the “Spider-man and his Amazing Friends” cartoon by Don Jurwich, Bob Richardson and Dennis Marks, she soon found her way into the comics starting with Uncanny X-Men #193 (1985) by Chris Claremont and John Romita Jr… In the comics, instead of being a member of the X-men, she was initially recruited into the Hellions. However, she was unaware of Emma Frost true goals and believed she was just helping her train. When Warpath (then using his brother’s name Thunderbird) sought revenge against the X-me for his power’s death, Empath used his powers to make Firestar fall in love with him and help them attack the X-men. They were defeated and Firestar broke from Empath’s control. While she felt guilty about the attack, she denied Xavier’s offer to join his school out of loyalty to Frost. Frost, however, began using her power to control Firestar and had her attack Selene and other people. Angered by this, she attacked Frost, left the Hellion, and returned her.

After a while, she was recruited by Night Thrasher into the New Warriors, becoming one of the founding members, as well as one of the longest serving members. While on the team, she met and fell in love with Marvel Boy (Astro), who would later go by Justice. She would later learn that her powers were damaging her body, causing her to become sterile and even given her cancer. After Vance was released from prison following his murder sentence, she proposed to him. When the Avengers returned from the Reborn universe, the couple was recruited into the Avengers, under the tutelage of Hawkeye. Hank Pym also helped Firestar with her medical problems. They would eventually leave the team after the Kang war, in order to go to college. She would eventually break up with Vance, citing she was too young to get married.

She would retire from being Firestar during the Civil War and would become friends with Black Cat, Hellcat and Spectrum, a group dub Marvel’s Divas. She later learnt that she had breast cancer. Her friends tried to find a cure for her, and they did but at a price. Hellcat had made a bargain with her ex-husband for a cure, but she must spend a day in Hell. In order to save her, Angela came out of retirement, becoming Firestar once more. She would later join the Young Allies, becoming close friends with Spider-girl. She would later become a teacher at Jean Grey’s Academy, becoming involve with a journey to hell and the World War Wendigo. She would later move to New Tian, becoming one of the city’s guards. She would join most of the mutant on Krakoa before being recruited by Iron Fist to help in the battle with Absolute Carnage.

I’m not going to lie. Firestar has been my number one most wanted figure for nearly 20 years. Ever since I started collecting figures and comics. And I’m not the only one as she has been an extremely requested figure for years by many people. We finally got our wish as Hasbro are releasing a Firestar figure. While it is marketed as a Cartoon version of the Amazing Friends, she would recieve an update as part of a 3-pack with the other members of that cartoon.

First Appearance / Classic

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends – Firestar OR Pulse Exclusive Spider-man and His Amazing Friends Multipack – Firestar with Spider-man, Iceman, and Ms. Lion

  • Background:
    • This is Firestar as she initially appeared in both the cartoon and the comics as well as being the one, she most often uses. Like all classic costumes, it has been drawn differently by different artists with some having raised collars or some having no collar at all.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Firestar is a great character as she fits into many collections. The obvious one is the Amazing Friend display alongside Spidey and Iceman. It is also highly needed for your Avengers and X-men collection, as well as lesser-known teams like the Diva’s and Young Allies. But probably the most important reason to get this is for the New Warriors, which Hasbro are slowing building and she is a long-time member. As for which version to get, it all depends on whether you just want Firestar (Fan channel) or all three characters (Amazing Friends). The Amazing Friends has a better body though but is it worth upgrading the previous one?
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not facts. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
