He can survive most things. Introduced in X-Men: Deadly Genesis #2 (2005) by Ed Brubaker and Trevor Hairsine, Armando Muñoz developed his powers at an early age after being bullied at school. After saving his mother from a fire she caused by sleeping while smoking, he was tested, and it was discovered that he was a mutant with the abilities to adapt his body to any situation. He was given the nickname Darwin the Evolving Boy (after Charles Darwin) and after being rejected by his mother, he was taken in by Moira Mactaggart. He was one of the Deadly Genesis team sent to rescue the original X-men after they had been taken hostage by Krakoa. After saving Cyclops, he was believed killed along with the rest of the team after he was absorbed by Vulcan and they were flung into space with Krakoa.

After Vulcan returned to Earth, Rachel Summer managed to separate the two with Vulcan traveling to space to get his revenge on the Shi’Ar. Beast examined Darwin and found out he was still alive. Xavier and his team of X-men that went after Vulcan, took Darwin with them. He would develop a father/son relationship with Xavier and would help the X-men in trying to stop Vulcan. They would eventually return to Earth. He would help the X-men in their fight against the Hulk during World War Hulk and would later also help with the Messiah Complex.

After that, he went in search of Xavier, who was believed killed at the time. His father sent X-Factor Investigation in search of him to hand him over to the Karma Project. He was rescued by X-Factor and joined that team, where he began a brief relationship with Monet. After taking on the powers of Hela, he would leave the team but would aid them when the mystic world tried to get their hand on Wolfsbane’s new baby. He would later join the rest of the mutants on the island of Krakoa and rejoined the X-men. He would aid them in their fight against the Children of the Vault and would later be killed by them but has since been resurrected.

Out of all the Deadly Genesis, Darwin is the only one that has made the jump onto the big screen, with his character being seen in X-men: First Class. It may have been this and the fact that his teammate Vulcan is in the same wave, that Hasbro has decided to make a figure as part of the Bonebreaker wave.

Deadly Genesis

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Marvel Legends X-men Bonebreaker wave – Darwin

  • Background:
    • When the orignal X-men were captured by Krakoa, in a desparate rush to rescue the team, Xavier approach Moira Mactaggart and demanded to use the young mutants she was training. The team would be given brief training and given new costumes. This was Darwin’s. It is basically a purple version of the standard X-men training suit.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you want to recreate Deadly Genesis team or the Starjammer X-men team, you will need this. You also may want it for a standard X-men shelf. It can be used as part of the X-Factor Investigation, but he wore a different costume then. However, unless you must have every X-men, he can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Needs

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not facts. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
