He gives a whole new meaning to finger gun, doesn’t he? Introduced in Daredevil #248 (1987) by Ann Nocenti and Rick Leonardi, Carl Burbank was a former priest but gave up his vows when an outbreak of drug related death happened in his parish. He joined the CIA who gave him his cybernetic arm. He later began selling his services as a mutant hunter, capturing and killing them for money. This brought him to the attention of Daredevil and Wolverine. Wolverine was going to kill him but Daredevil, who was working for Bushwacker’s wife as her lawyer, stopped him. He would escape but the heroes caught up with him and battled him, resulting in his face being scarred and him being arrested.

After helping Typhoid Mary and other villains defeat Daredevil, he was hired by Nick Lambert to kill Ben Urich, who had a mole in Lambert’s gang. After killing the mole, he was about to kill Urich but switch sides when he learnt that Lambert was the man who supplied the drugs to the teenagers in his former parish. He helps find evidence for Urich and the pair helps send Lambert to jail. He was later hired by the Kingpin to hunt down Punisher but was left for dead by the vigilante. He later battled Nomad (Monroe) over the daughter of his brother-in-law in an attempt to win back his wife. After another battle with Daredevil with Deathlok (Manning), he was one of many to try and assassin the Architect, who was also putting up the money for it. He was defeated by Elektra. He later teamed up with Bullseye and the Hand to steal a ship with weapons for the Kingpin but was stopped by Daredevil.

He later became a client of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway but went on a rampage and was stopped by Two-Gun Kid. He was one of many villains that escaped the Raft during the Electro break-out. He was hired by the Jackal to kill the Punisher but was stopped by Daredevil. He later took a girl hostage to draw out the Punisher, which he did, but he was shot by G.W. Bridge and sent to prison. He would later join the Hood’s gang but after the Siege he was sent back to the Raft. He was later hired by the Assassins Guild to kill Domino but was killed by Wolverine. He got better and was sent to Pleasant Hill prison, and helped with the massive outbreak. During the second Civil War, when Luke Cage broke into Ryker Island’s prison to break Iron Fist out, Bushwacker used the opportunity to shoot Captain Marvel but Luke used his body to save Danvers.

He would later try to kill the Kingpin but Fisk snapped his neck. He got better and rejoined the Hood’s gang and later joined the Assassins Guild to fight Deadpool. He was later hired by US Hulk Operations to try and find a way to kill the Hulk which saw him dying again. He was later seen taking the Beyond Corporation building in Texas hostage until he was stopped by Ben Reilly who was Spider-man at the time. For some reason his facial scars were gone. He later returned to hunting mutants but was stopped by the Marauders. He was last seen joining Nightshift, to take down the new Punisher, Jake Garrison.

I don’t think many people even knew about Bushwacker, but he would receive a figure as part of a 2-pack with Punisher as a Fan Channel exclusive.

Acts of Vengeance

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Punisher War Journal 2-pack- Bushwacker with Punisher.

  • Background:
    • Bushwacker never had what you would call a signature look but the blue shirt and jeans are the usual clothes he wears. This particular design was seen during the Act Of Vengeance event with villians swapping heroes to fight. For BW, he was sent to Punisher instead of DD.
  • Why do you need it for your collection?
    • Despite being packaged with the Punisher, as you can see above, he is mainly a DD villain but he can also be got for your Hood Gang, Punisher’s villains, X-men villains and for a few teams.
  • Does it need a remake?
    • No.
