Honestly, I think it was Deadpool that made her become a plus-size model. Introduced in West Coast Avengers (Vol. 2) #46 (1989) by John Byrne, Ashley Crawford discovered her mutant ability to control her body mass and used this ability to become a famous supermodel. However, she craved more and responded to an ad in the newspaper to join a new superhero team. Using her abilities, she became Big Bertha and joined the Great Lake Avengers, even offering her penthouse as their base. She would remain with the team, even rejecting career opportunities to remain with her friends. The team would sign the SRA and become Wisconsin’s superhero team. She would later begin a new modeling career as a plus size model and was engaged to Mr. Immortal….for 24 hours. The team would eventually break apart but eventually reformed and moved to Detroit.
