His death is the signal for the start of Ragnarok….so he has died alot. Introduced in Journey Into Mystery #85 by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby, Balder is the son of Odin and Freyja, though he wouldn’t know that until recently. Since it was prophecied that his death would signal the start of Ragnarok, Odin ordered that Freyja cast an invulnerablity spell on him. However, before she could cast the spell, Balder was accused of treason for abandoning a battle to return a baby bird to his mother. Odin order his sons Tyr and Honir to fire arrows at him but Balder was protected by a plant and an eagle. Because Balder didn’t flinch, Odin declare him the bravest of Asgard, thus given the name Balder the Brave and allowed Freyja to cast the spell.
However, he would be vulnerable to mistletoe, which Loki used to trick Honir to kill him. He was restored back to life by Odin but the experience cased his hair to turn white. He would later be forced to be married to Karnilla but his lover Nanna sarcificed herself to prevent this. These experiences case him to have a mental break down and he renounced his warrior life, eating and drinking excessively. He traveled into the desert to die, where he was visted by the Norns, who showed him a vision atht restored his fate. He returned to Asgard and trained to restore his warrior body. He would fight in many battle and when Odin left Asgard, he would become King of Asgard. He was later killed in the final Ragnarok.
Like the rest of the Asgardians, he would be returned to life and joined Thor in Asgardia in Colorando. He would eventually learn of his birth right and, through the schemes of Loki, was made the Lord of Asgardia. He was later killed to stop the World Eaters. In Limbo, he would become a soldier for Hela to prevent Surtur’s army from ruling the realm. After Angela became Queen of Hel, she would revive her lover and adicated the throne to Balder. He would later try to marry Hela to prevent Sindr from attacking Hel but Karnilla would marry her instead to save her lover. Karnilla would use her powers to revive Balder. During the War of the Realm, he was tasked by Freyja to protect his baby sister, Laussa, along with a selected group of hero, with the group being dubbed the Babysitter Club. After the War, he would join the League of the Realms.
Possible Figures

- Which has the best chance of being made? – Out of the ones above, the Reborn version is the one that is most likely to get made. It’s just what many think of nowadays when they think of Balder. The next one could be the Classic or Neo Classic version with the Lord of Asgard and Original being next. While the King of Hell would have very little chance of being made, if they did the Reborn version, it could be a swappable head. No Chance of the Young version being made.
- How can it be made? – This one depends on which version they make. If they are going with the Reborn version like I think, then they could use the Black Knight figure as a base (Balder is shorter then Thor). The Classic and Neo Classic could use a standard male body while the original could use the Sinister body as a base. As for where it could be released, this can easily be slotted into a Thor or just a standard Avengers wave.
