He is getting closer to becoming an actual dragon every day. Introduced in New Mutants (Vol. 2) #2 (2003) by Nunzio DeFilippis, Christina Weir and Keron Grant, Victor Borkowski was one of many mutants to enroll in Xavier institute once Cassandra Nova revealed to the world that Xavier was a mutant and allowed him to open the school up to the public. When the mentor system was set up, he initially wanted to go with Wolverine before moving onto Moonstar. He was later assigned to Northstar’s Alpha Squadron. He became close with Northstar, who’s “death” affected him dearly as Northstar was helping him accept his sexuality.

He kept his powers after M-day but failed to be selected for the new X-men in training team. However, after losing an arm in Limbo, he proved himself and was allowed to join the team. He developed a rivalry with Rockslide after Rockslide started teasing him about being a sissy. He would later be outed by Rockslide in front of the rest of the student body…. even though they all knew anyway. When the first mutant born after M-Day was scanned and everyone was searching for it, Anole and the rest of the New X-men went on a pre-empted attack on the Purifiers to see if they had someone gotten the baby. They were intercepted by an undercover Rictor and attacked by the Reapers. They escaped thanks to Pixie.

After Cyclops disbanded the X-men, Vic returned home, where he was accepted by the town’s people for being a mutant and being gay. Even though Northstar tried to get him to return, Vic refused. Despite this, he would join the Young X-men when asked by Dani Moonstar. He would move to San Fransico and later Utopia with the rest of the X-men. He would leave with Wolverine’s side following Schism and would later join the rest of Mutantkind in Utopia.
