This woman flip-flops so much it’s surprising she teaches at all. Introduced in Fantastic Four #94 (1969) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Agatha Harkness is a witch that has existed since before the fall of Atlantis. Most of her history is unknown but it has been confirmed that she was involved in protecting witches from the Witch Hunt in Europe and Salem. She would eventually flee from Salem and created a new town known as New Salem, a haven for magic folks. It was during this time she married and have a baby, Nicholas. She would later leave and would become involved with the Revolutionary War, becoming a member of the Daughters of Liberty. After helping with fighting the Nazi in WWII she would be recruited by Department of the Uncanny and help stop the threat of Hilda von Hate.

Eventually she would be hired by Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Girl to become the nanny of their new son, Franklin. When they went to visit her in her home, they were captured by the Frightful Four, but she used her powers to save them. However, despite this, they didn’t believe she was a witch. She would remain Franklin’s nanny until she helped defeat Ultron. She would met Scarlet Witch and took the young magic user under her arms, teaching her how to control her powers. She would leave after Wanda married Vision and would be captured by Nicholas and his children, the Salem Seven, her grandchildren. She was put on trail but was saved by the F4. She was later captured by the Seven again and in a battle with Wanda, she used the energy from the battle to conceive twins. However, Agatha would later inform her that they weren’t her children but part of Mephisto. When they were later absorbed back into Mephisto, Agatha used her magic to make Wanda forget she even had babies. However, Wanda would regain her memories and visited Agatha demanding to know where her children were. She would kill Agatha and her body would be found by Nick Fury before it was revealed that Wanda was having a mental breakdown and using her magic to attack the Avengers.

After Wanda recovered from her breakdown, Agatha would visit her as a ghost. After Vision’s new family’s death, she would be revived by Wanda’s mother, who used her magic to summon the Goddess of Magic. After a brief stint with the Daughters Of Liberty again, she got a teaching job in Strange Academy, where she met some descendants from her old Coven. Another member of her coven, Corrina, would return to the living and tried to end the world. Agatha would battle her old friend which resulted in an explosion where both were believed killed. However, Agatha survived and had regained her youth. She then began trying to create a new Darkhold and set a number of heroes against each other. She controlled the winners through Chaos Magic. A battle with the Avengers and Clea, the then Sorcerer Surpreme, resulted in her defeat but when she awoke on a beach, she discover a young boy. When she questioned him, he revealed that he was the Darkhold given human form.
