What would you get if you crossed Iron Man with the Rocketeer in at least design? You will get this Iron man. Introduced in Iron Man Noir #1 (2010) by Scott Snyder and Manuel Garcia, this Tony Stark was still an industrialist but he was also an adventurer, whose adventures were recorded in news papers and magazines. He journeyed with James Rhodes, Gialetta Nefaria and Virgil Munsey but at some point he suffered a heart condition and had to be equipped with an electric device with the aid of Edwin Jarvis. In search of the Jade Mask said to cure any ailment, he found it in the British Honduras but it didn’t cure him and instead he was betrayed by Nefaria. It was revealed that she was working with Nazi’s Baron Zemo and Baron Von Strucker. She killed Virgil but ended up with horrible burns on her face, and took to wearing the mask over her burns.

Returning to New York, Tony hired Pepper Potts to replace Virgil and began investigating Nefaria. He eventually discovered the location of Atlantis and hired Captain Namor to help find the city and it’s power source orichalcum. They did find it but Zemo and Strucker attacked and kidnapped Pepper and stole the orichalcum. Tony and James launched an assault on Zemo and Strucker’s compound, only for Zemo to reveal that he was in fact Howard Stark, brainwashed into the Nazi cause. Tony would battle his father and Strucker. The battle caused Tony to gain a new resolve to better the world.
