He created his enemy. Both of them. Introduced in Ultimate Spider-man #1 (2000) by Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Bagley and Bill Jemas, Norman was a corrupt businessman whose company was trying to recreate the Super-Soldier formula for SHIELD. After Peter Parker was bitten by a spider injected with the OZ formula, Norman realized that it gave Parker spider powers. Using his own DNA, he injected the modified OZ formula into himself transforming him into a hulk-like Green Goblin. After destroying his lab and killing his employees, he went to destroy his home, killing his wife. His son Harry managed to escape but Goblin attack Harry’s school and came into conflict with Spider-man, which resulted in him falling into a river seemingly dying.

He, of course, returned brainwashed Harry and tried to get Peter to join him by treating his loved one. He was defeated by Spider-man and SHIELD and was taken to the prison. While in prison with some of Spider-man’s other villains, like Doc Ock, they worked together and escaped. They blackmailed Spider-man by kidnapping Aunt May and formed the Ultimate Six. With the help of the Ultimates (the Ultimate universe’s Avengers), they rescued May and Spider-man beat the villains. He was sent to prison again but broke out. He tried to get the public on his side by claiming that Fury held him prisoner against his will, but Harry then broadcasted that this was a lie, and that Norman killed his mother. Norman attacked SHIELD and battled his son, who had become the Ultimate version of Hobgoblin. Harry lost his fight and Norman beat him to death. Realizing what he had done, he asked to be killed and Carol Danver obliged.

This turned out to be a lie and he surfaced with a new Ultimate Six team. He would try and get revenge against Spider-man but Doc Ock objective and Goblin killed him. Along with the rest of the Six, they attacked Parker’s loved ones. In the ensuing battle, they would each be defeated. Goblin was about to defeat Spider-man but with the help of MJ, Spider-man defeated Goblin. However, the resulting injuries cause Spider-man to lose his life. Much later after Miles Morales had been the new Spider-man for a while, he returned to plague a revived Parker but was beaten by Morales. After the revival of his universe, he teamed up with the 616 Miles Morales, going by Ultimatum, and arrived in the 616 universe, where they battled Ultimate Morales, who had been relocated to the Prime universe. Miles and Prime universe Spider-man beat the pair.

The Ultimate version Green Goblin is considered the first major villain of the Ultimate Universe and thus was requested by the Ultimate Universe fans. He would receive a BAF as part of the first wave of the Spider-man subline.

  • Background:
    • This is the Green Goblin as he usually appears in the Ultimate Universe. While the 616, and many other universe, are basically just a guy in a costume, the Ultimate Universe decided that his Goblin persona should be a big Hulk like form that he could transform into. They also gave him Pyrokinesis which resulted in him having flames over his body.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • As probably one of the most important villains of the Ultimate Universe, you will need this for your Ultimate Collection, particularly if you bought the Ultimate Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the Space Venom wave. It will also be need for a Green Goblin collection.
