They couldn’t use Nick Fury so they created this guy. Introduced in Nextwave #1 (2006) by Warren Ellis and Stuart Immonen. Dirk Anger is the director of Highest Anti Terrorist Effort alias H.A.T.E., the Nextwave’s universe’s version of SHIELD. He seemed to be aware that the Beyond Corporation is the newest version of terrorist cell S.I.L.E.N.T., however, he simply doesn’t care. He is well over ninety years old but has taken a version Infinity Formula (the same one that Fury took) so he retains is young. He was married at least once and beat Churchill in a hola hoop contest. After a suicide attempt, he learnt of Nextwave and was assign to watch over them. He later dead but the Beyond Corporation had a switch in his brian that turn him into a zombie. He was last seen crashing his aeromachine in the Beyond building.

I don’t think many people (beyond those that read Nextwave) were asking for a Dirk Anger figure. While we didn’t get a full figure, we did get a swappable head with the Nick Fury/Shield Soldier in the Civil War Giant Man wave.

  • Background:
    • Dirk is basically an asshole version of Nick Fury (even more so then the regular one) so his design is based on Fury.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you are building your Nextwave collection, you may want to get this. As for which body you can use, you can use the SHIELD body but I recommend using the Cartoon Taskmaster as it’s closer to the looks in the comics (Dirk was never a part of SHIELD).
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
