Hey, my fellow Plastic Addicts. Today we saw the launch of the latest animated series, Eyes of Wakanda. I enjoyed it. It was an anthology series that went through various points of history as the Wardogs track down artifacts that were taken from Wakanda. And like I do with every Marvel release, I designed a wave around it. However, since this was an anthology series with a few characters that has held the mantle of heroes, I thought it would be nice to make the theme of this wave about Legacy heroes, heroes that have taken the mantle of a previous characters. Then I started to think, why don’t I make this a mini-comic wave? Since the majority of the first wave were remakes, I also decided to make these a wave of MOSTLY remakes.
Theme of the Wave: Legacy
As for why I picked each of them:
- Black Panther (Legacy: Black Panter): We start off with the King of Wakanda, T’Challa, Vol 9 comic. This would use same body with as the previous Black Panther with new hands, head, scarf/cape, straps and spear.
- Iron Fist (Legacy: Iron Fist): Next up we have a character that had one of his predecessors appeared in the third episode of the EOW series. (Not a spoiler. It was the thumbnail on the episode.) For Danny I decided for Hasbro to remake his Immortal Iron Fist figure. The one we got was fine for the time but now with the 2-pack Iron Fist we need an update of that to match the build of that. All the really have to do is change out the head and remove the collar.
- Spider-Girl (Legacy: Spider-man): Next, we have a character that is in dire need of an update, Spider-Girl. Hasbro has being making a lot of remakes from the earlier waves and this one was…. fine… not great. It was mostly used to fill a “swappable variant” BS that it they tried doing before. This would need a fully articulated build with an unmasked head.
- Hope Summers (Legacy: Phoenix): Now for some X-men love and another character that was released on a god-awful body, we have Hope Summers. I think many people agree with the release of X-force, we need Cable’s adopted daughter to add to their collections. It would use the stand female build.
- Deathlok (Collins) (Legacy: Deathlok): Next, we move onto a character that hasn’t been done since they TB days. No. the one Hasbro made is not this version. I’m talking about the Michael Collins version that Toybiz made way back in the day. This would require the Vulcan build with brand new arms and legs. and for the love of god, NO RUBBER HOSE!!
- Bug: Now for my far out of there pick. Since Hasbro has surprised us with characters we never thought we would with Cystar (and expanded on it with Warbow) as well as Rom, I think it’s time Hasbro worked with Marvel to build the Micronauts, who still exist in the Marvel universe. Some of the characters are shared between the two but there is one that many people want because he keeps popping up in the comics, Bug. this of course would require a whole new unique sculpt.
And that is what I would pick for a Legacy series Mini-comic wave. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below or on any of the social sites.
