Hey, my fellow Plastic Addicts. This Wednesday sees the release at Sony’s latest (horrible) attempt at building a “Spider-man universe without Spider-man” with the release of “Madame Web”. (Note the quotations). Do I think we will get movie figures based on this? Hell no. I’m actually hoping this fails so Sony will learn just to leave these to Marvel Studios. But that doesn’t mean I can’t make a wave based around this movie. For this, I thought I’d go with the Retro style this time so just think of it as just another Spider-man wave. Sure, I could have made the BAF, Madame Web chair but…..well continue down and find out. If you are wondering about the rules, head over to the Ideal Waves.

Theme: Spider-Ladies and friends

As for why I picked each:

• Madame Web: The Title character of this wave is Madame Web, but nothing says it must be Cassandra. For this wave I decided to make the first figure Julia Carpenter’s Madame Web, a title she has been holding for nearly a decade now. This would require a whole new sculpture.
• Arana: Next up we have another character making their live action debut in this movie, Arana. We have a figure of this character before but for this wave, I want to do her more famous Arana costume, particularly her more recent “Mystic Spider” version. This would use the teenage female mold.
• Spider-woman: For the final lady of this wave, we have J. Jonah Jameson’s wife’s niece, Mattie Franklin. She is the third/fourth person to become Spider-woman after Julia Carpenter hadn’t been using it for years and was trained by both Cassandra and Jessica. This will us the Shriek body mold.
• Spider-man 2099: I was going to put the Electro Proof Spider-man here but then I realized that I didn’t have a remake yet. So, I look through some people’s want and realize that there is a lot looking for a Spider-man 2099 remake. However, unlike many, I don’t think it should be done of the RYV body. Instead, I think he should be made on the Vulcan body. You see, Miguel has always been depicted as bulkier than Peter so a bigger body would work better for him.
• Cardiac: I have been doing Ideal wave for nearly 7 years now and done several Spider-man waves. Every time I do, I keep saying, put in Cardiac and every time I keep forgetting to do so. Not anymore. This will use the Hercules bold with some added parts.
• Sin-Eater: For the final figure of the wave, I decided to include Sin-Eater. I normally wouldn’t include him but with him recently returning to the comics, I thought it would be nice to have him made. This will use the Red Skull/Dormammu build and will come with the Rider’s series Punishers shotgun.

And that is what I think of a wave Base….wait a second. A wave based on Madame Web, and she is not in it. Well……

I usually don’t do Deluxe sets but, in this case, it must be done. There is no way that you can make Madame Web and not include her chair, especially as a BAF. So, for this, I said I would make it a Deluxe set with the chair included. The upper body will be the Shriek body mold. HOWEVER, I honestly can say I don’t mind if the lower have is a solid piece. I mean you don’t expect this character to be performing epic stunts, do you? It isn’t the case like with Prof X. Cassandra is always in her chair.
