Hey, my fellow Plastic Addicts. With the SDCC happening this weekend, I am taking a break from both NCS and Missing Legends. There is no point in doing them if they are revealed at the weekend. However, since I know you guys like my content, or at least I hope you do, I have decided to do another Rumor Round-Up, where I will look through the various rumors and see what MIGHT be coming in the next few months. I will be placing them in order of what I think, note how I said “I think”, will be revealed at the SDCC.
We start off with something that is NOT a rumor as we have seen the actual figures of them and that’s Disney + wave 5. Why am I including this when we know it is coming? Because, apart from Gamora, Nick Fury and Talos, the rest hasn’t OFFICIALLY been revealed by Hasbro yet. For a refresher, this wave will include the three already mentioned Agatha Harkness from Wandavision, Yelena Belova and Kingpin from Hawkeye, Goliath and The BAF Iron Monger 2.0 from the “What If…” season 2. I’m also including it here as I can almost guarantee that this will be up for Preorder during or after the convention. It will probably be the only full wave (not exclusive or fan channel) that will be up.
Next, we will talk about the Haslab which will be Avengers themed. We haven’t had any rumors about what it will be, but the most likely scenario is that it will be some form of Giant-man/Goliath or some form of Quinjet. Will they reveal this in the con? Not likely. The last few SDCC, the team has only teased the Haslab project. They will probably have a few teases alright, but they will more than likely have a livestream for the launch of the project.
That’s all the stuff we know is coming onto the stuff we only heard rumors about. Let start with something I’m actually sick of people asking about and that is the Spider-man: No Way Home wave 2. This wave is supposed to include the 3 Spider-man, MJ, Matt Murdock, Sandman and Green Goblin with an unknown BAF and a Doc Ock Deluxe set.
Will this be revealed at SDCC? – Quite possibly but I honestly don’t see it happen. Maybe one or two figures as a tease and later a livestream.
Next since we are in the 15th anniversary of the MCU we are rumored to be getting a best of MCU line. We have already seen something that seem to be part of this with the Gladiator Hulk that is exclusive to Amazon. Now whether this is a full wave or just random stand alone figure is unknown but the line is supposed to include Civil War Iron Man, Civil War Spider-man, Stealth Cap, Iron Man MK 2, Thor Dark World, Nick Fury, Winter Soldier Black Widow and Unknown hero.
Will this be revealed?: I be surprised if not one or two of them aren’t revealed at SDCC. They are looking increasingly like just repaint/remakes of older figures with a new set of paint.
For you X-men fans, while we may not be getting another comic wave it looks like we might be getting a wave based on the X-men ’97 cartoon. Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Gambit, Magneto and Bishop are rumored to be in this wave and given that this is based on the cartoon, I see a more retro style wave. We don’t know if they will be cell shading or not but it’s doubtful given that this seems to be a full wave.
Will this be revealed?: This one has a high chance of being revealed. We have already seen some 4inch stuff out for purchase. However, the series isn’t until late in the year so it might be later.
Next we have the Marvel Knights wave. This wave is supposed to have the already revealed Luke Cage with Daredevil (more/fist), Lady Bullseye, Blade, Clea, The Fist and Midnight Son Iron Man. No word on the BAF.
Will this be reveal?: Yes, I actually think this will be revealed or a figure or two with the wave being fully revealed at a later date.
The final wave I’m going to talk about is what look like the next Avengers wave. I say looks like because these were just leaked as random figure but given who was leaked it looks to be Avengers based. The wave might include 2 Iron Man (Heroes Reborn and 300?), Herald Thor (repaint?), Ikaris, Ka-Zar and Count Nafaria. There could be one more or this could just be some random figure.
Will this be revealed? : No. Straight up no. We may get a tease but given that it’s for next year, it will be later before we get this revealed. Maybe at Toyfair or NYCC but not at this con.
Before we get onto some random figures that were leaked, let’s talk about the Wolverine anniversary 2-packs that were leaked. These include 2-pack each with a Woverine (Unknown, Civilian, Team X and White suit Patch) with First X-men/Armored Psylocke, Lilandra, Jim Lee Sabretooth and Joe Fixt respectively.
Will this be revealed?: No. We may get a tease but it’s likely that this will be held off until NYCC or Toy Fair. If Hasbro are going to the Fan Expo Canada, they might reveal one or two there as, well, Wolverine it probably the most famous Canadian in comics.
Now for some random figures that have been leaked over the past few months. Since there is a few I’ll just list them off and if they could be revealed:
- Deluxe Shuma Gorath – This could get revealed as a Mega-Deluxe set.
- Fan Channel Bradley Captain America – It’s been too long since this was leak so I assume that they may have cancelled it and will place it in another wave
- Spider-verse Peni Parker and SP//DR – Well, it’s likely she could be but I think they might wait until Beyond the Spider-verse for that next year
- Spider-Slayer set – Unlikely. I just don’t see this being released until later.
- Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider (ATSV?) – Easy retro style figure but not until closer to the Beyond the Spider-verse
- Deluxe Angel – Possibly but I would think they would reveal this with the X-men sets
- Wolfsbane – Same as above
- SHIELD 3-pack -Nick Fury and Nick Fury Jr swappable head, Dum Dum Dugan, Sharon Carter – I can see this being a Pulse exclusive so yes, i can see this being revealed.
- Jack O’Lantern – Maybe as a fan channel figure but this is likely to be part of a wave so maybe not.
And that’s pretty much what we know at the moment. I know there are some leaks for Captain America: Brand New World and the Thunderbolts but they will definitely not reveal anything about them. Same for the Deadpool 3, Beyond the Spider-verse or the sixth Disney + waves. All of these are too far out for anything to be revealed. What are you looking for to seeing revealed at SDCC?
