Alpha Flight

They are Canada’s premier super-hero team. When James MacDonald Hudson read a news paper about the appearance of the Fantastic Four, he approached the Canadian government’s Department H to help build a team to protect his home country. He helped set up a team with Wolverine as the leader and convinced the government to enact a registration act which would allow the Department H to take in and train super-powered humans. This training project eventually became known as the Flight program.

(Please note this will be only Alpha Flight. Beta, Gamma, Omega or the Flight Space team are for another page)

First Flight

The first team was set up by Hudson in order to be lead by Wolverine. He was joined by Snowbird, Saint Elmo, Stitch, Smart Alec and Groundhog, with Hudson and Walter Langkowski as support staff. They fought Egghead but failed in preventing a missile from launching and the loss of Smart Alec, sacrificing himself to stop the missile. Groundhog left the team after and the organisation was restructured into 3 levels of team, Alpha being the main team, with Beta being a sub team and Gamma being in-training. Wolverine, feeling guilty about this mission and his growing affections for Hudson’s wife, left the team.

Orignal Team

Hudson felt betrayed by Wolverine and redesign his power armor into the Guardian Costume. He then went and attacked the X-men (as Weapon Alpha) but was stopped. He later returned and brought with him the first Alpha Flight team that consisted of Snowbird, Sasquatch, Shaman and the twins, Aurora and Northstar. They would continue to attack the X-men to try and drag Wolverine back until Hudson and Wolverine made their peace. Hudson would then take on the name Guardian.

Orignal Team’s Recruits

Right after making peace with Wolverine (and gaining their own series), the team began their heroic adventure. Beta Flight members Puck and Marrina graduated to Alpha Flight where they would become core members. After Guardian’s death, his wife, Heather, took over his role as Guardian and led the team. She would later take on the name Vindicator. After fighting with her father for years, Talisman joined the team. 2 versions of Box joined the team, first Rogers Boch and Madison Jeffries. Gamma Flight and former villain team Omega Flight member, Diamond Lil soon joined the team to gain a full pardon. After working for Roxxon and helping Alpha Flight, Windshear accepted membership into the team. Another Omega Flight member looking for a pardon, Wild Child (known as Weapon Omega) graduated from Gamma to become a member of Alpha. The second Nemesis also graduated into Alpha Flight and the final member of this version of the team was Wyre.

Later, Japan’s premier superhero, Sunfire joined and later Ghost Girl. Shaman’s new apprentice Earthmover joined.

Unknown

I have read several articles claiming these two were part of Alpha Flight. However, I can’t find when they actually joined.
