Typhoid Mary / Bloody Mary / Mutant Zero (Mary Walker, Marvel Prime)

Daredevil seems to attract the crazy women that want to either love or kill him. None are crazier then Typhoid Mary but it was actually partially Daredevil’s fault she lost her mind. Introduced in Daredevil #254 (1988) by Ann Nocenti and John Romita, Jr., Mary Walker was once working in a brothel when a young Daredevil, who had just started out without his costume, attacked a villain there. The women there defended the villain but in an act of panic, DD leashed out causing Walker to fall out a window. This fall cause Mary to develop 3 distinct personalities, Mary herself, Typhoid and Bloody, with Typhoid usually in control. She would go onto to become one of the Kingpin’s deadliest assassin usually battling Daredevil, who kept trying to help her revert to Mary Walker, but she would usually revert to Typhoid.

She would go onto fighting other heroes like Spider-man and Wolverine. While she was in an insane asylum, 2 personalities (Mary and Typhoid) hired Deadpool to either kill her or help her escape, while Bloody hire Vamp to free her. Deadpool later teamed up with Daredevil to stop her killing spree. When the Kingpin woke from a coma he was in and found that his empire was gone, he hire Typhoid to attack Matt Murdock by setting him on fire before being taken down by Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. She was later recruit by Henry Gyrich and recruited into the Initiative program where she was given the codename Mutant Zero, where she would hide her identity from her teammates. During the Shadowland arc, when Daredevil took over the Hand and their Shadowland temple, she joined up with him and became one or his soldiers. She was defeated by Spider-man when she tried to help revive Bullseye and was later revealed to have been working for Kingpin all along. She would later work for Lady Deathstrike under her Sisterhood of Mutants and under Black Cat until she was imprison.

Typhoid Mary have been one of those character that mainly Daredevil fans have been asking for. Outside that, few people know of her and those that did felt that her costumes were too extreme for Hasbro to release her (some of them hadn’t even had a proper shirt covering to top.) Hasbro has choosing to go with the safest opinion they could find.

Made:

Sisterhood of Mutants

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Marvel Legends Vemon – Monster Venom wave Typhoid Mary

  • Background:
    • The thing about the Typhoid personality is that she is very lustful. Thus the reason that many of her costume seem to go to the extreme with her trying to seduce people. However 2 things that have always remained in her design are her fishnet stockings and her half white face (sometimes the other side is black but usually it’s black). This one seems to be based on her Sisterhood of Mutants costume.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • (I love how Hasbro has even given the figure ripped stockings.) This is a most have for any Daredevil fan. She is up there with Daredevil most frequent and important foes, with probably only Elektra, Bullseye and Kingpin surpassing her. Spidey and Deadpool fan might want to add her as well as she has battle them quite a bit too. X-men Fans may want her for their Sisterhood members.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
