Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur, Marvel Prime)

Imagine what it would have been like if Bob Layton had his way. The biggest treat to the original X-Factor would have been the Owl. However, when Louise Simonson with Jackson Guice took over the book in X-Factor #5 (1989), she wanted to introduce a new villain so she created Apocalypse. Called the first mutant, En Sabah Nur was original born in ancient Egypt, where he was abandon for his appearance but was found and raised by a Raiding Tribe. He was raise with a hard Warrior attitude and eventually overtook the Pharaoh Rama-Tut (a younger Kang.) He also began taking or brainwashing 4 horsemen. He began being called Apocalypse. Through out the centuries, he battle many of the world immortals, such as Dracula and even a younger Thor (without his hammer). He eventually met Nathaniel Essex, who introduced him to Darwinian Theory. This lead to him taken on the philosophy of “Survive Of the Fittest”, where the strong would destroy the weak.

Stay hidden for centuries, he eventually sent the Alliance of Evil to attack the original X-Factor. When Angel lost his wings, he transformed him into Archangel, his Horseman Of Death, but he eventually returned to himself and helped the team fight Apocalypse. Since then he would go onto become the X-men most dangerous enemy even brainwashing many of them into being his horsemen, like Wolverine and Gambit. He also became Cable arch-villain, being that Cable came from a future in which Apocalypse ruled. He eventually was killed off, but would live on in the form of his followers. He was eventually cloned as Ethan Ensabahnur, but he was raise to be a good man and eventually joined the X-men as Genesis.

Being one of the most famous enemy of the X-men, Apocalypse has had a good few figures over the years. TB released a regular size one in there ML Series 7 but it was short and stumpy. He was later a much bigger BAF for Series 12 (with a black variant) but that was way to big for a standard Apoc. Hasbro are releasing a new figure supposedly 8 inches but that remains to be seen. If true then it would be a nice size for him.

X-Factor / Original Design

01

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 12 Apocalypse (BAF)

  • Background:
    • The design that Apocalypse had even he first appeared would go onto becoming the basic for all future designs.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • For many years this was the best and most accurate Apocalypse to own. However it was very oversized, but given that he is a size changer it can be forgiven. Part of a older wave as well as being the BAF, this one would cost you quite a penny so unless you have to have a giant Apoc, this is a great figure.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. Perfect as is.

Post M-Day

02

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 7 Apocalypse

  • Background:
    • When Scarlet Witch cause M-Day, which saw many mutants losing their powers, Apoc decided to use this time to exact his plan. He began with recruiting many X-men, like Gambit, Sunfire and Polaris and parking his ship outside the X-mansion. He spook to the people staying their, saying the strongest will survive. He was eventually defeated by the X-men.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • In what could be an artist using a figure as a base for their art, this figure actually came out before it was released. If you want to get a plain Apocalypse without having to build other figures to build him, then this is the own for you.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

03

  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
