Psylocke / Captain Britain / Lady Mandarin / Lady Britain (Elizabeth “Betsy” Braddock, Marvel Prime)

She was born British, went Asian and finally returned British. Introduced in the UK published Captain Britain #8 by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe, she was introduced as the younger twin sister of Captain Britain. For the time, she was a STRIKE agent (UK’s SHIELD) as well as a supermodel who dyed her hair purple. She always had psychic power but cause the UK stories tried to be their own without mutants and such, she wasn’t considered a mutant but instead a Warpie. She would later take over for Captain Britain for a time when he left the country but was badly beaten by Slaymaster. She would later be kidnapped by Mojo but with the help of the New Mutants escaped from the Mojoverse and arrived in the X-mansion where she stayed after she learned that she was indeed a mutant. Proving herself during a fight between Wolverine and Sabretooth, she was made an official member of the X-men.

In probably comics weirdest event, she was later kidnapped and had her mind swap with a Asian assassin (Kwannon) where she was brainwashed into thinking she was Lady Mandarin. However before she could return to her own body, Kwannon dyed from the Legacy Virus. She however was able to gain all of Kwannon skill’s as a ninja which she put to work as she returned to the X-men. She began a relationship with Archangel later on and took on the powers of the Crimson Dawn. She would later become the living prison for the Shadow King. She was later believed killed when she was a member of the X-treme X-men but was later resurrected and joined and lead the Exiles. She would later return to the X-men and even regained her original body when the Sisterhood Mutants attack and resurrected her body. But she returned to the Asian body after. She later joined Wolverine’s X-Force.

Just like Storm, Psylocke has been one of the most popular character in the X-men. However, unlike Storm, she has had a number of great figures. Toybiz did one in Mojo series of ML. There was planned to be a X-Treme X-men variant but that was cancelled. A few managed to get out from the factory but they are extremely rare and expensive. Hasbro released one in a SDCC Exclusive X-force Box Set alongside Wolverine and Archangel, all in their X-Force costume. Wolverine and Archangel were re-released in some form but she wasn’t. She is finally getting the perfect figure in the upcoming Apocalypse wave.

Mind-Swapped Ninja

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends X-men Apocalypse Wave Psylocke

  • Background:
    • The storyline behind this is basically what I said for the mind swapped. It is based one a ninja outfit. It would become her signature costume for years for which most costume would be based one.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is the figure is definitely need in your X-men collection. It is her most iconic outfit and was what was used in the Cartoon and the recent Apocalypse movie. As for which one you should get, well the TB one comes with a sword and a BAF piece and Hasbro one comes with a sword with psychic effect, a psychic knife and a psychic butterfly effect as well as a BAF so  I think the choice is obvious. (Hasbro one in case you haven’t gotten it.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Uncanny X-Force

Recommend Figure: Hasbro SDCC Exclusive Marvel Legends X-Force Box set Psylocke with Wolverine and Archangel

  • Background:
    • After the Second Coming storyline when Wolverine had a new team of X-force set up with them being a secret, Psylocke was one of the people who joined the team. She became the teams moral compass as well as being involved in a love triangle with Archangel and Fantomex. Despite her misgivings, she remained with the team almost until they broke up.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • The only version of this is part of the SDCC set she would be hard to find online nowadays. Only get this figure is you have to have all the members of the Uncanny X-force, to which we have the full team.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Repaint the new Hasbro one, yes.
