Valkyrie (Brunnhilde, Marvel Prime)

The leader of the Valkyries has such a weird history in Marvel Comics. Introduced in The Avengers #83 (December 1970), she initially used as a disguise for Enchantress, who had trick the female hero of the times to form the Lady Liberators, after she had been shunned by Skurge and wanted to get back at all men. However, it was later learned that Enchantress had tricked the valkyrie Brunhilde into splitting her soul from her body, which she used for her bidding, such as when she gave a rich girl the soul in order to fight Hulk. Her soul was eventually given to Barara Norris, who took on the personality of Valkyrie, without realising that it wasn’t her body. She joined up with the Defenders, which she would become a core member, and eventually got her revenge on Enchantress and regained her body. Since then she has also joined with other women, similar to how Thor did, usually in order to save that person.

Like I said Valkyrie was a core member of the Defenders for many years, before the team disbanded into the New Defenders. She would return to a version of this team again and again, even leading an all-female version in the Fearless Defenders. She was also a member of the post Siege version of the Secret Avengers, which she was a member of until Hawkeye changed the focus to more of a spy team.

Figure wise, she has not gotten alot of them over the year. In fact, she has only 2 in ML, both which as fan demand versions. She was third place winner of a fan poll and was packed with another Hulk. She also got another one in the Hulkbuster was with was a different version.

First Apperance / Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends 2-pack Valkyrie with Hulk

  • Background:
    • The costume, or armor if you like, is what Valkyrie is most famous for. In fact, it is the version that does who share Brunhilde power, but not her soul like Samantha Parrington, usually are seen wearing.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you want a Valkyrie figure and don’t care which, then this is one you can skip. It is too short and the face is bad. However, if you have to have the classic version this is the only one so get it if you want.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Yes, on the Angela body, which work better for her.

Secret Avengers

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers: Age of Ultron Hulkbuster wave Fearless Defenders Valkyrie

  • Background:
    • After Osborn was defeated during Siege and Steve Rogers was made head of SHIELD, he began creating a new team of Secret Avengers, which he invite Valkyrie to join. She actually remain with the team for quite a while, even flirting with Agent Venom when he joined.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • While the figure is a bit tall (despite Val being a tall character but not the same height as She-Hulk), this is a superior version of Val. She might not be in her classic costume but it is close enough to pass. Recommend getting this figure for your Defenders, Avengers, Thor or female heroes collection.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. but I wouldn’t mind if it was redone on Angela’s body.

Below is a gallery of costumes that still need to be made. Click on the image to see chances of it being made. Please note that this is my personal opinion and not fact.
