Beast (Hank McCoy, Marvel Prime)

AKA; Agile Avenger, Blue, Golden Armed Boy, Hanko, Kreature, Magilla GorillaMutant #666,[4]

He may look like a big blue ape or cat, but behind that is one of the greatest minds in the Marvel Universe. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Uncanny X-men #1 1963, the only thing that made Hank McCoy different from other people are his big hands and feet. After leaving the X-men, he went onto to gain his doctorate. During this time he developed a serum to allow normal people to gain mutant powers but was forced to drink it order to stop it from falling into the wrong hand. This cause him to mutate into the furry Beast we know today, first with Grey fur but because printer were still shit, he soon became blue the next issue.

Beast will always be associated with the X-men but, next to Wolverine, he has been on the most teams of all the X-men. He was a main member of the Avengers, to which he still hold a huge present in, Defenders, Secret Avengers, X-Treme X-men to name just a few.

As for figure, because if his fury design, he is hard to really release a figure of as they need to make a new sculpt for him. However, given his huge popularity he has gotten quite a few figure of him.

First Appearance / Training Uniform

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Toy-R-Us Marvel Legends All-New X-men Box Set

  • Background:
    • Hank McCoy was one of the original X-men and as such he wore the same training uniform as the rest of the team wore. The only thing that is different is that he didn’t wear gloves and boots. It should be known that many of his non-furry costumes are based on this.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you’re a Beast fan then I say this would be perfect for you. It is also nice to have the set for your First Appearance collection. But if you want only one Beast then this can be skipped as it is rare and expensive.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. Now many people argue that this set should be done on a teenage mold. However Hank McCoy Has always been a big person so the figure is the only one that actually works for that character. I wouldn’t be surprised if they repainted this into the Graduated and X-factor costumes.

Classic / Blue Fur

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 4 Beast

  • Background:
    • After leaving the X-men, Hank developed a serum to give normal people mutant powers for a short time. However he used it on himself to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, which mutated him into a fury Beast, grey at first before turning blue. It was around this time that he was invited to join the Avengers before going off to lead the Defenders team.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is currently the best Beast at the moment so if you can get it then I say go for it but it is one of the older figures.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Yes. Hasbro has been killing it with there remakes so I love to see what they do with this one.

Astonishing X-men

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Wal-Mart Exclusive Marvel Legends Nemesis Wave Astonishing X-men Beast

  • Background:
    • After Xorn’s attack on New York, Cyclops took charge of the X-men. In order for the team to appear more friendly, he ditched the leather jackets in favour of a more superhero costumes. This is what Beast came up with.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • I said only get this bad figure if you want to complete the Astonishing X-men team or if you want to complete Nemesis figure.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Yes and no. Yes because the figure is bad but no cause the costume is very out of date nowadays.

Below is a gallery of costumes that still need to be made. Click on the image to see chances of it being made. Please note that this is my personal opinion and not fact.
